Road Trip

Not a super blog worthy outfit but we were in the car and waiting room almost all day so wanted to be comfy, which this outfit was.

I had the jacket on all morning but the minute we went outside to the summer weather we seem to be having it was off...  This tunic was bought from bebe sport (when it existed) cause my husband made the mistake of buying his mom an outfit there when he was buying my mom an outfit. Keep in mind our mother's are very very differ in style so his mom of course had to return it for something else. All she could find that would fit her taste was a tee and a hoodie so I bought this with the remainning. It is perfect to layer on top of leggings.

These converses which I wear frequently are actually slip ons cause you know me I despise buckles and shoe ties on my or my kids' shoes. But I love the look of ties on converses so found this style where the ties are painted on to give the look!

I forgot my sunglasses at home today. That is what happens when you leave your house while it is dark at 5:30 AM and ditch my usual diaper bag for a normal tote which has nothing in it. So, these are my Dad's spare pair in his car.

Tunic Top - Bebe Sport
Leggings and Scarf - Forever 21
Jacket - thrifted at the Thread Show
Socks - Puma
Sneakers - Converse
Sunglasses - Dad's Ray Bans

Today's Activities: Woke up at 4:50 AM naturally so decided might as well get up so I can turn off the alarm and not wake up my husband. Was all ready with my english muffin and coffee in my hand when my brother and father came to pick me up. We spent the morning driving up to Laguna beach for my father's treatment than had a nice lunch z pizza at 11 AM before driving back. Since the kids were napping at my mom's I rested a bit at home then cooked dinner before running errands kid free then headed to my mom's to pick them up. Nice quiet night at home. I had cramps so instead of reading in her room my daughter and I layed in my bed under covers cuddled and read a book. Then my son and husband came for a group hug and tackle fight. Fun ending.

Oh, forgot to post these yesterday....
Here is my new Diaper Bag:

And remember I was talking about spotting my dream Michael Kors bag at TJ Maxx the other day. I was telling my mom all about it and she went and bought it for me for upcoming mother's day and my b-day in August! I coudln't beleive it. I love this bag sooo much:

Making a bigger size skirt work

This bohemian look was inspired from the following photo in Elle Magazine:

Today, you can see it was more the idea of pinkish tones full skirted dress with boots, denim jacket and touches of red. Also, allows me to use this skirt that has been collecting dust in my closet.

The skirt is actually super big on me. But I saw in a magazine once that you can pull it up and cynch it with a belt to make it fit. And it totally works. Glad I didn't get rid of it cause it was too lose.

I used the deep red patent leather belt I had thrifted late fall. This skirt has so many cool colors in it that it is a perfect base for layering on top. I felt the dark brown somewhat anchors all the pastel colors.

It is like summer here midday so obviously didn't need the jean jacket until late afternoon. The weird thing is it is still cold mornings and evenings but super warm midday.

I felt these 'angel wing' earings were perfect. You might have noticed I always have this double strand super thin and light gold necklace on at all times. That was my grandmother's. It was 4 strands, my aunt the jeweler, separated the other two to make a single strand necklace for my girl cousin and sister and gave me the remaining two since I am the oldest. Today I added this longer but again super light one which was also my Grandmother's. Love wearing them as it feels she is with me.

Full Skirt - Will Smith (from either Target or TJ Maxx I can't remember)
Brown tee - Target
Red patent leather belt - thrifted
Crop denim jacket - Might be Forever 21
Cognack slouchy boots - Via Spiga
Earings - Thread Show

Today's Activities: Since it is a holiday the preschool was closed. We went to a house playdate and met a few of other mommies/kids from my mommy group. I packed lunch so we ate there and left early so we could hit Henry's before coming home. I love Henry's but I can never buy *everything* that is on my list and still end up having to go to Von's which is annoying. And the kids did not really nap at all. My goals were to pay bills which did not get done at all. We barely left on time to visit my sister. Her and her new boyfriend had all sorts of toys and food out. Although they learned very quickly that feeding kids choclate and candy in your own house backfires fast. At least finished up the bills and emails at night. Have to go to bed now since I will be waking up at 5 AM to drive up to Laguna with my brother and Dad for his Dr appt tomorrow.

Lion Fever

This outfit just kind of came together as I put each piece on. It was on my list as jeans, white tee, grey suit blazer jacket and purple striped scarf with military boots. I selected this tee cause the girl prints are dark grey and they repeat so the design does not get lost even under scarf and jacket.

This cotton blazer was more comfy than a suit jacket so went with this instead. Then realized the purple striped scarf did not really do much. This scarf has tones of blue and grey so it goes. And it also has red which inspired me to wear the red hat.  Converses was much more practical for out activity than the boots.

I tied the bib necklace long enough so it shows under the scarf. I thought it might be too much with the converses but it looks fine.

This hat is from my mom's closet. I was mentionning to her the other day the outfit inspiration photo had a red hat and she mentioned she has a red hat she never wears that I can barrow. This was it. I think without the outfit would have been boring. This totally makes it pop!

This is how I was for the first hour since it was warm. The weather here have been in the mid 70s yesterday and today!

Tee - Target
Jacket, Jeans, Necklace - Forever 21
Hat - Mom's
Scarf - Ed Hardy (from TJ Maxx)
Sneakers - Converse
Ring - from Turkey

Today's Activities: After last night's drinking woke up with a bad case of hangover. Just as we were finishing up breakfast my mom called and she said she wants to do something with the kids. So, I got them ready and she took them to the park. Below they are all set in her convertible for the 4 block ride to the park:

They came home for lunch and naps. When they woke up we were all ready and left immediately for the zoo. The zoo closes at 5 PM so we had to make the most of our time.

Here is my daughter looking a the Lama's...

I am sure I have mentioned before but my son is obsessed with lions. He always likes to see them first but they are very high up in the zoo so I usually convince him otherwise unless we are there with my husband. So, today we saw the male lion. He was upset we didn't get to see the female one.

After the zoo closed we had dinner at a diner near there. Came home in time for bath and bedtime...
