Sporting a Fedora

So, realized I do not own any 'sporty' clothes and gave up on trying to look sporty since I am so not even into football and wore this instead. The inspiration had come from the following which I think was an ad:

I liked the use of the hat and the shawl  in this oufit and the colors. My colors a bit different but same idea of using black and gray with pop of brown.

I bought this top again during materniy but kept it in the closet cause it is cool but yes a bit baggy on me now.

Amazing how I didn't use/wear this shawl for years and years but just these past 2 months I wore it twice.

This is the hat my mother got in France and she said she wore it there all the time but does not wear it here, so it is on a long term loan to me. Just last year I didn't have the guts to wear the hat other than a photo shoot. Now, I don't even think twice. And my friends and family are so used to my 'unique' outfits that they don't think it is weird anymore.

Got lots of compliments on my earings at the various grocery stores today!

The layers of this outfit was perfect for today. It was warm and the short sleeve sweater was great. And when it got chilly the 100% wool shawl was enough to keep me warm plus the hat.

Today's Activities: Morning was rough, just wasn't in the mood. My husband helped by going to the grocery store except the one item he couldn't find was the thing I needed to make my salad for the party. So I went to Henry's and they didn't have it either. Finally Trader Joe's had it. Shelled Edamame that is.  So after 3 stores I finally made the salad took it to the party and put it in the fridge then forgot to take it out for lunch/dinner! Can you beleive that!

We had organized this super bowl party for months. We arranged 2 babysitters to watch our 8 kids while we are all there just so we can relax and enjoy the company without resolving kid disputes. The kids had a great time playing and we enjoyed wine/beer and a walk on the beach while our husband watched the game. It was amazing how hectic it got the minute the sitters left.

Chic retro

This was the outfit I wore to my daughter's b-day party. I wanted to be cute but still stylish. And this outfit with the total retro look accomplishes that. 

I had 'ankle socks' for this outfit but wasn't sure which ones. I put on these polka dot ones and when I looked in the mirror I had to smile. They were perfect!

Every item I have on today except for the ankle socks is at least 5 or more years old and have never been worn together! So, how cool is that?

Today's Activities: We held a birthday party for our daughter jointly with my friend at a kids exercise/play place called 'way beyond'. It is very bright and clean and unique inside and the location was very convenient with plenty of parking. The prime time slot was taken even months ago so had our party from 9:30 AM to 11 AM. We kept our kid guests under 20 but the adult numbers was quite high which was fine cause they only count the kids. It was a fun and quick party. Some of us stayed and walked into the adjacent mall for some more playtime and lunch. Kids napped hard and woke up to hours of fun of gift openning and playing.

Wondering why the adult numbers were so high? Well this is my family that was at my daughter's party!

I love the outfit even though it is a bit 'out' there. I got the inspiration from this:

I was drawn to the combination of pink and red and of course fur.

This pink silk ruffle front blouse used to belong to my Grandmother. My mom had it and landed it to me. I just love wearing something of her. The fur cape was a left over from my mom old vintage store again on loan from her. I purposefully did not button it up so the ruffles of the blouse can show thru...

Yes, I know the green socks in pointy toe brown shoes is the part that makes it 'out' there but I love it. I wish the socks were not too big and fit right but I kept pulling and tucking. This green cocktail ring was perfect to bring out the green in the socks. Just something about adding green to this combo worked.

Amazing how better photos come out when you have someone to take them. My mom took these and I actually had her stand in 3 different locations before picking the best spot for the light.

I actually own red pants but they are boot cut and for this look I needed to cuff the pants to show the ankle socks so went with these burgandy cords instead. I think it still works...

Mom did warn me my face was in the shadows but I think it looks a bit artistic, no?

Today's Activities: Man, you go out of town for day and the stuff just piles up. It took me all day to unpack all the bags from our day trip to disney, laundry, bills, emails, photos etc... Thank goodness my mom came over to help with the kids so I could get more done. While the kids napped she even ran a few of my errands outside the house while I met my friend to finish up the party favors for our daughters' b-day party tomorrow.

For dinner I met the family and the kids at soup plantation for dinner. My step dad commented I might be the only one who ever wore mink in soup plantation history! I was tempted to change shoes and a sweater instead of the cape but I loved the outfit too much to change.
