Inspiration Monday - white and taupe

Another Inspiration Monday Challange outfit today!
This challange is hosted by the lovely ladies of Two Birds blog. They submit the inspiration photo for the upcoming week early on. You can always click on the button on the right side of my blog to check for the upcoming outfit and challange rules.

This week's inspiraton photo was of Kim Kardashian:

Once again this wasn't so difficult for me. I think I have to admit at this point that I probably do have an above average closet with a lot and a lot of clothes. Which is why I can re-create a lot of outfits I see simply with stuff I already own. I always say, it is the years and years of shopping that is paying off.

So, for this outfit white shorts was no problem. For the top I used this taupe tunic top I had bought last year from F21. It has an attached schiffon vest a detachable rose pin (took that off) and a resin chain link and satin ribbon belt! I tucked in the tank and used the belt on the short's belt loops.

Used my $4 owl charm necklace to create the same look.

Of course it was by no means shorts and tank top weather here today at least not in the morning. So after the photos I had to switch the shorts for white skinny jeans and added a coco shrug for warmth.
Still kept the look I think though. No?

The contractors are back at my house and they are everywhere, backyard, front yard. And since I was going to change the shorts after the photos I took them upstairs in my hallway off all places!
At least utilized my bench...

Oh, for shoes the taupe/tan wedges were perfect to achieve the look. These if you remember came with a detachable fur trim but for spring/summer they look great without the trim.

Today's Activities: Back to preschool today after a week off. My son is a solid listener now and slowly my daughter is more and more sitting through circle time.
Oh, but we are still struggling with the paci withdrawal. She is waking up a lot and crying (falling back to sleep) but overall sleeping less which makes her cranky. She was our sleeper and good natured kid too, so hope she goes back to sleeping a lot. At least she understands they are gone and stopped asking for them. Just re-states everytime she goes to bed that the 'mingi's (her word for pacifiers) are gone. Well, actually she says 'Mingi yok!' (in Turkish). Both my kids are bi-langual and I only speak to them in Turkish although my son 95% of the time responds back in English. My daughter can carry both with no problem.
Anyway, still having car issues after 3 days and thousands of dollars of repair. I am so frustrated. Had to stop to see why the 'check engine' light was coming on and now they need to install a new sensor. They won't charge me for it but I still have to take it there and wait which is not an easy thing with two kids.
In the afternoon we'll be going to the indoor play area.

Once again the kids wanted to pose with me... First my daughter (in her new minnie top from Target)

They both of them. Notice my son's new long denim skull frayed shorts from Sears...

Easter Sunday

This type of an outfit would not have been my first choice for Easter but it was a chilly day today so I had to pick something that was layered and honestly I just wanted an outfit where I would wear these shoes!

The inspiration came from the spring J Crew catalog photo below:

I actually own a blush cardigan but I do not own a blue and white striped tie or scarf. And I really wanted to apply all the colors here: yellow, khaki, blush/coral and light blue. Hence, since my striped cardi was coral and cream I decided to wear an old pastel blue cardigan.

This scarf is very silky soft but quite large in size. So no way was I going to be able to tie it to the belt like in the inspiration photo. So I decided to wear it around my neck but in a very very loose and low style.
The cardigan has this super cute blck kitty on one side but that does not go with the outfit so safety pinned it open to hide the design.
They yellow tank is a babydoll style but tucked in gives the look I was looking for...

This charm bracelet is very old which you can tell from the way it is showing tarnish but the colors worked great with the outfit...

And these are one of the most precious pair of shoes I own. I absolutely love them and I think they look adorable on as well as on their own. They are quite high but also pretty sturdy and comfy (you know as comfy as platform wedges can get)...
They were bought on clearance about 6 years go and platforms, or wedges or cork heels were not in style then not that I cared as they were so pretty. But now they are also very in style!

Today's Activities: My mom was hosting Easter gathering in the afternoon today so we were open in the morning. My husband plays tennis sunday mornings so I decided to take the kids to the movie we have been waiting for that came to the theaters couple days ago. "African Cats" by DisneyNature. It was amazing. They must have followed this lion pride and the cheetah family for at least a year to get the whole story. I have personally done safari in Kenya, Africa and had seen a lot of  what the movie showed in real life but would have never known the story behind the prides we have come across. These were just such heart warming stories. My son has been obsessed with Lions for years now as a result of Lion King. He adored watching real lions in action with their roar making them scared in the theater surround sound. I was worried about my 2 yr old sitting through but she did great. Of course she did not use her inside voice but I don't think the 3 other people in the theater cared when she yelled 'baby cheetah' or 'baby elephant'. After the movie we had lunch and since our favorite gyro place was closed we had Japanase. Well, My son and I shared an eel bowl I should say where my daughter only nibbled on the shrimp tempura.

After naps we got the whole family dressed and headed to my mom's. My Dad, brother, SIL, their baby, SIL's mother, my cousin's cousin, my sister and her boyfriend and our friends with their kids were all there. Everyone brought side dishes while my mom and step dad cooked a great meal and set a beautiful table outside and created a fun egg hunt for the kids. We also celebrated a b-day too. We all had a great time even though the kids were on a sugar high and a bit out of control at the end.

Here are the kids eating their treats...

Hope you all had a great Easter!

Egg Hunt

I wore this outfit the first half of the day to the Easter Egg hunt and lunch at our friend's house. I wish the weather was warmer for this weekend but no luck so had to settle with combos that have layers.

Everything but the lace/tulle ham tank is pretty new. This is the skirt I got from ruche. I love the ice blue color and the comfy length and that cutout pattern. The ruche site also had a very similar striped cardi like this one but I found this at F21 for half the price.
The vintage looking low heeled peep toe oxfords are also a great find from F21. Love the grey color too.

I always like how the ruche website uses a lot of silk flower pins in models' hair. Not sure if mine looks perfect but I didn't have time to fuss with it with our 9 AM departure this morning.

Today's Activities: Got the kids all dressed up for an easter egg hunt this morning. Met our friends at the park and had them get some energy out at the playground at first.
Our girls' age group (2 and under) was first. My son patiently waited on the sidelines for his turn. She loved collecting eggs and exchanging them for candy. Liked the choclates and the jelly beans. Then it was the boys' turn (3-4). Amazingly my daughter sat on the sideline long enough for me to take a few photos of my son and hubby collecting eggs.
We then had all our kids eat some of the candy then run it out. But the playground was so packed that it was overwhelming trying to keep an eye on the guys. We decided no restaurant even the most casual one couldn't handle our group so one of our friends that live very close offerred to have us over while the husbands went and got some great burgers. Kids loved hanging out together and playing. I love now that our 3.5 year olds are actually playing together.
We also had a big event today: My daughter gave up all her pacifiers to the Easter bunny and is quitting cold turkey. Not sure who is sadder us or her. At first she thought it was all funny. By nap time she realized how devestating this was and cried for a very long time. By night time we no longer 'gave' the paci's to the bunny but the story now goes the bunny 'took' all her pacifiers! Going to be rough couple of days.
At least she did nap and she did go down at night.
We were too tired to do anything else this afternoon so hung out at the house. Kids played with play dough and I did laundry.

Waiting for the first age group to start their egg hunt...

See how crazy it is. But of course this is SD and the palm trees make everything pretty...

My son waiting his age group/turn... And my daughter giving up her bag of binkies to the Easter bunny!

Father son, mother daughter moments!

Happy Easter to Everyone from our family to yours!
