My Little Man

 

The craziness continues...Yesterday was my son's 4th Birthday Party. In the commotion of course I forgot to take outfit photos so you will have to settle for these random 3 poses I could find that kind of shows what I was wearing. 

 I kept things simple with wearing a shirt dress and brought all the focus on these super eye catching gladiator sandals. They zip up in the back so they are as easy as booting on boots. On my skinny calves they don't look as tight as they should but actually that makes it comfy and easy to move in. I am always in search of flat shoes that make a statement since I get so much more use out of them then heels.

 

This shirtdress was a Koton purchase from Turkey last year on sale. It is soft rayon like material and does not wrinkle easily. Snaps in front instead of buttons so very quick and easy to put on. The blush color is perfect base for any outfit and it has multiple pockets which I love. 

I switched the self belt with a cognac brown leather one and also wore a simple short gold charm necklace which you can't see... You can however see the brown, bone and gold bangles on my wrist. Kind of.

 Didn't even have time to style my hair or put any make-up. Cause on top running around like crazy starting a park party at 11 AM in the morning I was also super sick! At one point I remember my mom fluffing my hair like crazy and me telling her to stop but whatever she did looks good!

Saturday's Activities: The day started in a flurry with me waking up totally sick and things needing to get done all at the same time. We opted for a morning party for my son so he can rest after and enjoy the gifts and family in the afternoon. We also opted to do the party at a park instead of our house so we can get a big jumpy. The problem is you have to reserve a spot at the park and you have to haul everything there.

My in-laws were staying with us so that was a big help with one of them holding the spot at the park from 8 AM on and the other tending the kids as my husband and I got everything else ready. Family members arrived to help with decorating. My sister and her boyfriend picked up the cake and cupcakes so it was a big team effort and production. We had close to 22 Kids and 35 Adults! The theme was Scooby Doo which my son is totally into. 

The party was great and I think the kids had a lot of fun. It is somewhat of a blur for me between sneezing and stuffy nose. 

After the party my daughter took a nap and my son did quiet time as I unloaded and cleaned and put away everything. Then we all gathered again to watch him open his presents and ate left over pizza for dinner and celebrated my father-in-law's b-day with another cake which is the same day as my son's.

After giving the kids a bath and putting them to bed I went to my dad's. His pain had gottan so bad that he couldn't come to the party. So took him food and all the party photos so he can see everything that took place. 

TODAY: Brought my dad to ER this morning and we are still here as I am typing this post. I woke up even more sick so put on sweats for the morning thinking I would get dressed in the afternoon but looks like we'll be here for quite a while. I am glad at least I am in comfy sweats. Dad is in good spirits so we are tying to make the best of the situation.

Blue and White photo shoot

 

Too much going on and I am totally behind in blogging (posting or reading). This was my outfit on Friday.

The inspiration came from the following magazine photo:

 

Like the idea of blue and white mixed with black (tank) and brown (belt) and some pop of color (orange)

 

I wore the polka dot tank. Actually a basic black tank would have looked better but I didn't have time to switch. For the pop of color (in the photo it is the design on the tank) I added the Turkish beaded necklace made of orange, red and blue beads and evil eyes.

 Added the ankle cuff sandals over the skinny jeans. Kind of cool.

  This was an outfit I wore for the photo shoot with my Dad. Primarily it was for my dad and the 3 grandkids but knowing he might want a group one that included his two kids (my brother and I) wore a complimenting outfit.

Friday's Activities: Had a very successful photo shoot with my Dad in the morning. Will share when we pick them up. Afterwards we all went to the Disney Store. Kids love it there. My son picked a toy for his uncle to buy for his b-day. Then lunch with the family in the food court before heading home for naps. In the afternoon my in-law's arrived. We had a nice time hanging out and having dinner at home. Then took my mother-in-law to my mom's house for the party she threw for my Aunt. My Aunt is a jewelry maker in Turkey and has great pieces. Fenced In

 

This was my outfit tonight going to a b-day dinner with the girls. 

 

The inspiration came from the following b/w photo in a magazine which I forgot to note the name of...

 

I liked who she played down the animal print dress with utility style jackets and the thin scarf big layered bracelets, fringe purse and fringe earings. 

 

My mom brought this dress from their cruise to Mexico a couple of months ago. It is actually a very simple and comfy sun dress. The print makes it dressier.

  

For accessories I added the brown and gold cuffs on both wrists. The right one is just one cuff that looks like multiple. The one on the right is using pieces from two different sets. I have been really enlarging my cuff collection and it is so much fun to pile them on. Thank goodness for F21 prices.

The beaded fringe earings are the prefect look, but the color does not go all that great but I didn't care.

 I could worn my brown wood platforms which also looked great but wanted to add some interest with the cream wedges instead. These shoes make a statement all on their own!

This fringe purse is ancient but is in great shape. 

 

  The crochet scarf is very very old. I have it in dusty pink and cream color as well. Bought them when long thin scarves were in style.

 

Need to get some sun (or self tanner) on those legs!

Today's Activities: Spent the bulk of the day in a sweat pant suit as I took the kids to swim class. Then bargained with my son that today we were going to come back home for lunch and do our traditional gyro lunch out. He was fine. He is always fine as long as you give him plenty of advance notice and lots of explanation. Today at swim class they jumped in fully clothed and practiced swimming to the wall. It was a great practice. I dressed them in PJs after swim class so they can go straight to naps after lunch at home. Had to have a whole discussion with my son why PJs were being worn outside the house. I don't think I can ever stop talking when I am with him. The questions never end.
I cooked dinner while they napped and printed sample photos of scooby doo cakes. My mom and aunt came over when the kids woke up and I left them at home and did my marathon grocery shopping. First the grocery store than costco. Ordered the b-day cake and cupcakes. Yes, I am not one of those mom's who can whip up amazing made from scratch b-day cakes. But that is OK. I know my strengths and that is just not one of them. I did order all the cake and cupcake toppers in advance though cause planning is definitely my strong suit.
Of course buying all the stuff is just part of the process. Then coming home and unloading and putting them all away is a whole process in itself. I must have done 20 trips to and back from the car! So next time someone asks how I stay thin without stepping foot in a gym I have to remember to relay this afternoon.
Once everything was put away and my husband came I could shower and get dressed and even had time to take photos and clean-up dinner dishes etc...
Had a fun b-day dinner for my girlfriend. I know I say it all the time but I can't reiterate enough how refreshed I feel after just couple hours of laughing and dishing out and absolutely no kid talk! As a SAHM that does not work I spend 24 hours talking to kids, talking about kids or thinking about kids. That little break just feels so amazingly refreshing!
