Maxi Dress Again

 I know I just recently wore this maxi dress last week but had already picked this combo before I realized that so oh well...

The inspiration came from the following lookbook photo of Ruche. I love that site and how bought many items from them. I had really liked the dress shown here but they were out of my size. I actually searched high and low for a similar dress and have found the one I am wearing today at YesStyle.

 

I don't have a sweater like the one in the photo but I do own this crochet vest/cardigan thing which for today I wore it backwards to give it a more sweater look. should have done a back photo so you can see but forgot.

Added the belt around my hip for the look

Today's Activities: Went to the indoor preschool class today followed by lunch outside. My daughter is doing better with potty training meanning she actually tries to tell us but once or twice a day she will tell 'a bit after the fact'. We are trying though.
After naps just as we were rushing out the door for the swim class my husband surprised us by coming home early. I am sure with the hopes of resting from his hellish week this week but the kids were so ecstatic and begged him to come watch them swim that he coudln't resist. And then my Dad came to watch too so I took advantage of this situation and ran out the near by dollar store for some household/grocery shopping. Since I had cooked before we left the dinner was waiting for us when we got home. I even squuzed in some time between dinner and bedtime to pay the bills!

Our pieces are not quite the same but the idea of wearing boy friend cut cuffed jeans, a tank and a cozy cardigan with a sun hat matches. For a bit of sparkle I used my sequin tank. And since the yellow stripes of my chunky cardigan is very subtle I added the big butterfly yellow earrings instead. I think they look cute.

Oh and yes, added a thin yellow belt too since these pants are about a size and a half too big I needed a belt anyway so why not yellow to go with everything?

 Here are the earings in close-up. They are made out of wood so super light. I love the butterfly design and the distressed yellow paint. They were $5 at the Thread Show...

I am so glad I purchased these wooden platforms cause they really look great under everything. Too bad I don't wear them in reality that often. Again today I had to switch to my lizard skin flat sandals for the park...

Today's Activities: Attended the outdoor class which was held coincidentally at the park that is literally in front of my mom and step-dad's backyard. I even parked the car in front of their house and took the secret path to get there. A few other classes have been cancelled due to funding so this class is the double the size and it was quite hectic trying to keep an eye on the kids. I hate super crowded playgrounds. It is like that street performer trick where you try to watch the ball as he rotates 3 cups over the ball. That is how it feels like keeping track of two kids in a crowded park and it hurts my brain. Plus the kids refused to eat the left over mac'n'cheese I had packed for lunch so we left early so they can eat something else at my mom's. After lunch I left them there and met my Dad at his Dr appt. We were then there for the next 5 hours making his next 4 Dr and Infusion appointments than getting his 2nd Chemo treatment. Funny how tired you could get also from just idly sitting. I am not used to that so I feel quite tired now even after dinner/picking up the kids and coming home.

 So, I was going to do Inspiration Monday today but the outfit just was not calling to me. You know what I mean? And I wanted to wear something I was going to get excited about so settled on this number...

And yes, I soooo need some sun on my legs. I ran out of the build a tan lotion I used to use so need to hit the drugstore!

I wanted to take advantage that I had a somewhat low key activity today and wear this mini dress. It is the one I ordered from yesstyle. I thought it was more red but turned out to be burgundy but I still like it. I just with it was a bit longer...

These ankle cuff sandals from last year have been worn sooo much. They just go with everything and are very comfortable...

 When we went to the beach we were able to take a few more photos thanks to my friends...Having photos taken is always a stressful activity when you have 6 kids on the loose!

This green shirt-jacket is from my true safari collection. I can also wear it as a vest as the arms zip off. I have yet to purchase an army green jacket so this is substituting for that.

Today's Activities: So this is the week 2 of our Monday playdate rotation with my two friends. These are the same friends we are going on a family vacation with in October so it is so nice to hang out and let the kids really get to know each other. The boys especially play so good together. Her house is only a block from the beach so when the morning gloom lifted we decided to venture to the beach. We decided at this point to not wait for the perfect warm weather and just work with the weather we have and start enjoying summer right away. So even though it wasn't super warm the fact that there was sun coming and going was good enough.
And the kids honestly don't care. They had a blast playing in the sand, climbing and jumping off of rocks and chasing and running away from the huge waves that wash to the shore. Afterwards they had a hearthy lunch. We decided next time we'll pack the lunch and take with us so we can stay longer. Cause even that short trip was a lot of work when you are herding 3 2 yr old and 3 4 yr olds and a wagon filled with gear.
After naps we came to the indoor play area and my daughter did a make-up gym class. She tried out a higher level class and did pretty good.

On the way back we got them to the top of the stairs then sat them on this bench so we can towel off their feet and put their sandals back on before the walk home...
