Sequins for Day

Today I am continuing to participate in the "Summer Trends" challenge presented by Megan Mae Daily and Casual Chic Kiki. Today's trend challenge was 'Sequins for Day'

This tank is totally covered in large (read: not subtle) sequins all over the front. Thank goodness the back is plain cottan. It is a bit itchy actually when my arms touch my sides. A soft cardigan toned it down a bit.
Clutching my  morning coffee after the type of morning i had it was my best friend!

Added a simple brown stone and gold charm as it needed 'something'...

Wore the wedges I bought last winter the ones that came with a fur trim. Without the fur they totally work this season as well. They are a bit high for the day with kids but can handle them at preschool when there is minimal walking...
Sequin Tank - Charlotte Russe
Cardigan- Guess
Pants and Necklace (and sunglasses) - Forever 21
Wedges - Victoria's Secret

Today's Activities: Preschool in the morning. But before that it was a hell of a morning. My daughter woke up from what we think was a nightmare at 5:50 AM. got her to sleep but we had a tough time ourselves so by the time we slept it must have been late as we both overslept until 8 AM. woke up in a frenzy and dressed the kids right away which of course they resisted since that is not our morning routine. Then there was the whole waffle vs. french toast and whip cream vs. syrup controversy with my son. After that endless wining about wanting more food some toy or another and refusing to potty. Once we got to preschool things calmed down, thank goodness. After naps we plan to do the swim class than have dinner out with the kids then do grocery shopping. My husband is playing tennis after work so this is the plan I came up with (notice how it avoids cooking dinner!)...

Feminine Military with Sunny Yellow

This post is going to contain lots of links as this outfit was to participate in two separate challenges:

1. Fashion Challenge by Megan Mae Daily Blog. Today was military with a feminine twist. Click HERE to see the challenge rules and what is coming up everyday this week.

2. Every Body Every Wear's Yellow Challenge....

Ok, one more link, I was inspired by Ariel from Artfully Awear:
I actually  have a hat like that platform sandals but today was a crazy day and I couldn't even put them on for the photo shoot...These photos were taken by my dad after we finished his chemo treatment. Not quite a sun hat and platform sandal kind of event.

This sunny yellow blouse was purchased in Turkey last year on clearance from Mango.

I own two colors of this necklace this bronzish gold and one in silver tones. It is a really cool one!

 Shirt - Mango
Black tank, necklace - Forever 21
Capri pants - Victoria's Secret
Shoes - Rocket Dog

Today's Activities: Got an early start this morning to go with my Dad to his infusion appointment. Had the kids lunches ready and packed and my mom took them to their outdoor park class. We came back during nap time, although my son had napped in the car and my daugther was not sleeping yet. I had to once again stay in her room for a while to get her to sleep. I am not sure but she is trying to drop her nap although she is way to young. After naps due to my good friend's support I build up enough motivation to meet up with her so we can feed the kids early dinner in the mall then go to the gym (which is in this mall). Of course little did we know the 'body pump' class we wanted was super popular and was already full. Will know to sign up early next time. So we just did free weights but still got to exercise which was great. Amazing how I did go through the whole afternoon with no caffainne due to exercise. Got the kids dressed in PJs in the gym's kids club so we cna put them to bed as soon as we got home. Going to attempt to do 1 or 2 classes a week. Meeting up with a friend will always motivate me cause I rarely flake on plans I make. If it was just me though I would totally flake on myself!

Inspiration Monday - Kate Moss in stripes

Participating in the Inspiration Monday hosted by Megan and Nora from Two Birds Blog...

Today's Inspiration was from the lovely Kate Moss:

I do like this look. I had two choices: Longer black capri pants with very thin white stripes or these off white bermuda shorts with black stripes. I felt these represented the inspiration better so went with them.
First I thought the long blazer jacket from an old suit would be too much and took out a cropped one as well but this actually looked cool. Not as cool as her jacket with leather lapels...
I felt the outfit was a bit blend since I didn't have her details such as leather on jacket and side stripes on the pants so I added this cool spiky necklace and the studded ballet flats for some pizazz.
I actually have black leather (chloe) purse that is just like hers but it has gold metal accents all over which would have clashed with my silver stuff so went with this old suede fringe bag instead...
These are my super old sunglasses. Back when smaller shapes were in style and they are slightly cat eye. Might be vintage one day so saving all designer ones...

Jacket - part of a Bebe suit
Tee - Target
Shorts - not sure super super old
Ballet Flats - some funky website which I now can't remember...
Purse - Guess
Necklace - Forever 21
Sunglasses - Chanel

Today's Activities: Another playdate monday today and this time I was the host. Researched some more fun kid friendly recipees over the weekend and settled on a black bean salsa with tortilla chips for lunch and melon cucamber sushi rolls for snacks. It was going to be a swim playdate and of course as my luck would have it the weather totally cooled down today. We turned on the heater but not in time so the pool was still a bit chilly for our taste at 82 degrees. We first had the kids play in the backyard then swam then had lunch. They always have a great time and we enjoy each other's company immensely but feel exhausted at the end.
After naps went to the indoor play area which we have not been in a while. My bf is coming over tonight for Chinese take out and watching two tivo'd episodes of true blood after kids go to bed!

Here are the snacks I put out. The curly chips are made with lentils and potatoes. Taste: not bad.
The others are crispy green beans which are pretty tasty. And the cucumber melon rolls.

The black bean salsa made with can black beans, yellow and red bell peppers and tomatoes. The key ingredient juice of two limes in the dressing which adds the perfect summer citrusy taste.
These are flour tortillas cut in wedges and brushed with olive oil and salt than baked in the oven. They come out as these perfectly crispy and tasty chips. We loved them and so did the kids.

We took out the water table for the kids to play and two of the girls decided to dunk their heads in to get their hair wet!

They loved the effect. My daughter in purple...

The boys were playing with the CARS color changing car toy (Ramon's paint shop)...
