Still in Shorts

 Today's Inspiration came from the J Crew catalog my favorite place to get outfit combination ideas....

It was pretty amazing how I had the very similar items. I love the idea of wearing a big dressy necklace over a buttoned up blouse.

TODAY:
Outdoor class in the morning. Started off cold and I was questioning my choice of wearing shorts but then it got warm. Kids had a great time as usual playing for hours with their friends in the open fresh air and they made some very cute art project that I can use to decorate the house.
During naps we had a conf call with my dad with his secondary Doctor in the LA area.
Then when the kids woke up my plan was to go to Target to check out clothes selection for the kids. My mom said she could take the kids so I could shop in peace. Of course I lost myself and track of time then hit Marshall's . Got some very cute outfits for my daughter and some practical stuff my son needed and most importantly shoes for both.
Thank goodness my Mom was very understanding and made dinner and fed the kids so I could do all this.
Got them home a bit past bedtime.

Black Swan Halloween

 This was my Halloween Costume today! Since seeing a girl dressed as such at comic con I dreamed about becoming black swan. Any reason to wear a tutu. However, instead of buying a very similar tutu to the movie I decided to buy a petticoat instead so I can use it later under dresses. It is actually knee length but I tucked it in under the belt to create a more mini version for today's costume. For the morning PreSchool festival I did a very quick make-up but for the night I really went nuts and duplicated her make-up. I am quite proud of my self if I might say so!

 I first used a face paint pencil to draw the lines. Then filled them with bright blue shadow then with bright green shadow then brushed glittery charcoal shadow over it all to darken it. Then used my eyeliner to re-draw the lines. For someone who hardly ever knows or wears eye make-up I thought I did pretty good!

My son though did not like it.

 

Amazing how petticoats at American Apparel cost over $50 while this one was only $20 from party city!

These are my own point shoes and were pink of course. Since I couldn't find black point shoes anywhere I bought fabric paint and painted these black...

 Ordered a quality tiara. I am sure my daughter will be using this later on... She loves tiaras.

TODAY:
What a crazy busy but fun Halloween today turned out.
Morning was the kids' preschool Halloween Festival. Each pair of mommies were signed up to come up with a fun activity booth and a prize/treat for the kids. After circle time we set-up our booths and let the kids rotate between them. They loved it. My booth was 'make a foam frame' table. Another pair of mommies were taking photos so it was perfect pairing with them.

NIGHT:
After naps, I got the kids to eat a healthy snack while I cooked two salads to take the Halloween party at my best friend's house. Since my son was born we have been spending Halloween with them. They host an early party at 5 PM so we can eat and get the kids to eat then we go trick or treating in their neighborhood as a big group. It is a lot of fun.
Kids worked hard collecting and eating more candy than they do over the whole year and then by 7:30 PM they got back in the wagon and announced they were done and wanted to go home. So we did. My parents and brother and SIL joined so they can spend my  nephew's 1st Halloween together.

Project Pink and Pumpkin Carving

 Wore the pink blouse today which was inspired by an outfit Kendi wore from Kendi Everyday blog...

I decided to go with my flared dark jeans though and flats and a grey purse instead....

WEEKEND:
Had a crazy busy weekend.
Saturday: 
Morning we had gym classes then rushed to the photo shoot on the beach for the xmas cards. I will share those once the photographers gives them to us. The sun was a bit hard to work and the huge tide did not help but I hope he got at least one good one.
After naps we went to our friend's house for a potluck BBQ and to look over our Jamaica vacation photos together and remember the fun time we had.

Sunday:
Took my son to the Turkish School in the morning. Left my mom and the kids there and rushed to the dollar store and a craft store to buy supplies for the preschool halloween festival.
Then had a potluck picnic with the school.

Since apparently all the grocery stores are out of pumpkins we had to go to the local pumpkin store to buy pumpkins for the carving party we are hosting tonight:

And At night the whole family came over for a potluck pumpkin carving party and we had a blast.
I adopted this tradition from my friend who does this with her family every year. It was a total blast and we all decided we will do this every year!
Everyone came over with a dish for the potluck dinner and their own pumpkin and carving tools.
We first gutted the pumpkins as people came. Then took a break and had dinner and dessert than carved them all together.  My kids only lasted until beginning of carving then their bedtime came so they haven't seen the finished pumpkins yet. At the end of the night we took photos then everyone takes their own pumpkin home.

 We even separated, washed and roasted a big batch of the pumpkin seeds...

Dinner Table:

Kept things simple and casual with nylon table cloths and paper plates

 

The Desserts:

My sister brought the cake and my mom made the classic Turkish pumpkin dessert!

Then the carving starts:

My husband and I worked on the same one. He drew the 'Ariel' and I carved it.
