Welcome to Paradise

Today's summery combo was inspired by the recent Anthropologie catalog:

I liked the combination of the summer skirt with a laid bag casual sweater (where I used a cardigan) and the addition of scarf felt so chic and global...

This kikaPaprika dress can be worn so many ways. To give it that more midi length feel I folded the top to flare right under the bust.
I also loved how the blue/aqua/white scarf just popped on top of the tangerine dress and made me feel s much more comfortable wearing a strapless dress even when I took off the cardigan.

Cardigan - Ruche
Dress - 'portia' in tangerine by kikaPaprika
Scarf - kikaPaprika
Sandals - Victoria's Secret
Purse - Thread Show
Earrings - Target

TODAY:
Had a bit of a stressful morning cause I thought the kids acting classes were starting today so made all sorts of plans to accommodate that then realized when I got there they were starting next week. so had to call my poor step dad to tell him he doesn't have to come there and then had to drive my daughter to where my husband was with my son at his baseball game. During all this of course she is crying because the plans have changed and I am frantically looking up directions and making calls. Once I dropped off her though I took a deep breath and realized I actually had 45 minutes not 15 to buy the bagels and coffee and make it my friend's baby shower which we hosted at a nail salon up north.
It was such a great idea. Everyone got to mingle and have mimosas and eat breakfast while getting their pedi's and mani's. Most of the guests were buys mom's so this little get away where we can pamper ourselves while being congratulating our friend on her third baby was perfect.

Afterwards I met the family who were spending a great time at our friends' athletic club/resort family day. Well, tomorrow the fun times will continue I am sure....

Missed Connections

Tonight's outfit for a quick get away to a dear family friend's farewell party...
Yes the orange pants again. Sometimes I like wearing combo's using the same piece that way they get worn twice before I do a wash/iron. You saw a very casual look with these orange pants yesterday and today they go very dressy....

The inspiration was from September 2011 issue of Vogue:
I swapped the white pants for orange and the orange coat for a white one...
I have been dying to wear this Zara coat I got on end of season clearance. It is the ultimate white coat. I love the cut the shape, everything! It is just not going to be very versatile for me to wear often given its pure whiteness and dry clean only status but I will manage.

I kept the simple lines of the jacket with this simple cuff necklace and bracelet and the super chunky knuckle clutch!

The tone on tone satin stripes of this tee makes it more dressy don't you think?
Mom was not a big fan of this unkempt hair. She said as we were leaving 'are you going to brush your hair before the photos' and I said I was selling this hair as wild and cool but she said she wasn't sure who was buying it. :)

Coat - Zara
Top, necklace - Forever 21
Pants - Romwe
Boots - Zappos
Clutch - Q

TODAY:
Well today did not quite turn out the way I envisioned. I slept in and had a leisurely breakfast watching couple favorite recorded shows than my plan was to gear in a serious work mode and get things done. Which is when I had the call from mom that my son was sick and 10 minutes later she called again to inform he wasn't breathing easily which is when I had her call the nurse doctor and dressed in a frenzy and rushed to her house. My son was sick but not ER sick so we waited until 2 pm for our Dr. appointment. He got prescribed inhalers and antibiotics and as we went to the drug store he threw up on both of us. We barely made it home to clean him up and put him down for the nap he was begging for.
I was in denial that given the situation we would ever be able to go for the farewell party but the nap helped and my mom brought back my daughter from her gym class and my hubby came home to take over and we did manage to go to the party at least for an hour or so.

My mom is on the left end.... The Turkish group of the party....

On Fire

Yesterday's outfit. This inspiration from In Style has been sitting on my desk for a while. The weather is soo weird these days. It starts chilly always but some days it totally warms up and some days it never does.

Scarf - Ann Taylor LOFT
Pants - Romwe
Boots - Steve Madden
Sunglasses - Karen Walker

WEDNESDAY:
My son spent the day at grandparent's house while I went to pre-school with my daughter than dropped her off as well. My hubby came home early so we could squeeze in our P90X workout before he took off for tennis and I met my girlfriend for dinner and a movie since the kids were at my mom and step dad's for the night. Hubby had to work from 10 pm to 2 AM at work for some code deployment so we didn't quite see each other....
The movie we saw Olympus fell I think was the name was really good. It felt like an unbelievable story but then again if they made a movie of 9/11 before it occurred we probably would have thought that was pretty unbelievable too (terrorist taking over flights with paper cutters). Makes you really think.
Great action movie though.
