A Day at the Fair

What I wore on Thursday as I worked from home in the morning and took the kids to our state fair with a group of friends as it is our tradition every year...

Inspiration from Pinterest:

Even though it is a full day of walking I like to still pick an outfit that has character for our annual day at the fair...
The cotton dress with the 'carwash' trim was easy and comfortable to wear all day and move in. The sandals worked fine too.. Hat is usually a necessity and the light shirt was perfect when it was a bit chilly...

Hat - Farmer's Market in La Jolla
Dress - from a Street Bazaar in Turkey
Shirt - Gap
Sandals - Isabella Rocha
Sunglasses - Karen Walker

DAY AT THE FAIR:
This year since I had to work and the kids had camp we went in the afternoon. It was almost a 40 minute wait to get on the shuttle bus from a nearby high school lot. But we had met up there so we killed time by catching up...

Here are the girls climbing the tree by the line we were waiting in:
My daughter is the one in the fedora with the sunglasses.

We were quite a group in the shuttle bus (school bus) and got lots of stares and comments. 10 kids plus 5 moms!

The adults all had group on tickets to enter the fair and the kids had printed their reading log to get in for free...

Then we hit the classic fair (junk) food for snacks and got the kids their unlimited ride wristbands and hit the ride area for hours of walking around and waiting in lines and watching them ride...

Ended the looong day with more food, going through the animal exhibition and ICEE's to go...

Ready to Shine

What I wore last Friday... I worked from home so didn't have to wear a work outfit and it was a joy dressing mid morning instead of crack of dawn!

No inspiration, just putting together this new top and shorts I bought recently....
Love the color of these shorts. Got so many compliments. ALthough not crazy about the linen material as it wrinkles like crazy after one sitting...

Jacket - Vintage
Top, Shorts, Earrings - J Crew Factory
Hat - Farmer's Market
Sandals - TJ Maxx
Sunglasses - Ray Ban

FRIDAY:
Logged in at 5:30 AM to get as much work as possible as I had to quit at 9 AM and rush to kids' school to attend these wonderful events...

The morning was at school walking my daughter's class from one activity to the other during what they call "Field Day"....

Then gor my son and his friend from their class, fed them lunch and came to this amazing 1 mile race that takes place in the honor of the girl (Chelsea King) that was kidnapped and murdered during her run...

The kids had to run a 7 minute mile to qualify...

This year my son finished the mile run in 6 minutes 4 seconds and came in 4th.
The first finishes had a time of 5:40 and his friend who came in second by just 1 second had 5:41!

Believe it or not this was not the end of our day. The kids then both did a 1 hour swim team practice and then we met daddy for dinner out! :)
