Mod Squad

My mod outfit Saturday night was inspired from Lucky's September 2014 issue:

The black and white hat adds instant mod vibe and instead of boots I went with my new platform penny loafers with knee high socks….

Hat - Vintage
Top, Dress, ring - Forever 21
Loafers - Coach
Purse - Thread Show
Earrings - Betsey Johnson

It's Monday Mingle time!
You can find the linky at BonBon Rose Girls this week:

SATURDAY:
We had once again a soccer filled day followed by ballet…

After a goal the kids rush for a hug in the middle of the field. Just adorable...

The whole team was finally present and in uniform for the first time so we captured a complete team photo…. [my son is the one holding a water bottle]

With her 'Teyze' (auntie):

For these little ones the parents make a tunnel for them to run under after the game….

And once we cam back from ballet, I got to shower and change and met my book club ladies at a restaurant to discuss our last book 'The Paris Wife' by Paula McClain.
It is a fictional book about Earnest Hemingway's first wife and the love of his life. A slow but a good read…
We had a brief discussion as half of us had read the book but it was a fun gathering over margaritas and Mexican food.
Then we went across the street to see 'Gone Girl' which was a book we read last month together. Some ladies had to skip it as they struggled with the story line so much that they hated it and felt depressed. I thought the movie was well done and a very good adaptation of the book. Perfect casting…

The next book we'll read is:

Check Please

Today's mixed pattern combo was inspired by October 2013 catalog of J Crew:

I tried on a few different jackets and this seemed to go the best...

I bought this dress when I was pregnant with my son as it is stretchy and served as a great maternity dress. It was too mod and cool to get rid of so it has been waiting another opportunity in the extra closets. Today was its day! :)

Jacket - Forever 21 (but I got it from a second hand store)
Dress - Forever 21
Booties - Shoedazzle
Earrings - from Turkey (gift from my cousin)
Necklace - Charming Charlie's

TODAY:
Had no real plans today and got to sleep in and took it easy in the morning but managed to shower and get ready and leave by 11:30 or so. Went to the mall with no real purpose. We looked at a few stores for me and the kids and hit the play area and I have to say we were all very successful in not buying ANYTHING at all! I have been an online shopper for so long I swear I loose sight of real life shopping. It just seems so blah and the need to decide is too overwhelming. The only thing nice is you can try on and be certain of the size. I never find the stuff I find online in the store for some reason.
When we got home we relaxed and started the big 800+ piece lego set my son got from Santa. I let him follow the instructions and assemble but I help by finding the pieces and also double checking his steps as he tends to go too fast and one square mistake can cause a major issue in step 55 in these things.
My dad insisted that I write we had pop corn and watched netflix'd show (House of Cards) on TV together. He usually goes direct to bed after dinner but tonight he hung out and we had a roaring fire going so it was very nice.

It's a MOD

I can't believe how many days have passed without a post. It is because we have a major heat wave which of course in San Diego we are not used to and all I could bare to wear is simple shorts and tank tops that were not really blog worthy. Attempted to dress up today for brunch at my parent's but didn't take the photos until after we ate so the dress is already wrinkled and stained!

The inspiration came from March 2013 issue of People Style Watch:

Dress, Earrings - Thread Show
Sunglasses - Forever 21
Heels - Shoedazzle

TODAY:
Woke up and got ready early to go to my parent's house for a nice family brunch... Yummy food and good company it was a peaceful morning.
When we got home it was already smoldering so had the kids swim in the pool and get out just for lunch and go right back in when daddy came home from his guys' trip.
Afterwards we went to our friends' house for labor day BBQ and then walked down to the beach for bonfire and smores! It was the first time kids were on the beach in the dark and they were in heaven. We had plenty of glow sticks and for some reason only a small packet of connectors and these crazy kids kept asking for 'more connectors' all night long!
Had to take probably 3rd shower of the day when we got home before bedtime....

The coordinating outfits were not planned and totally coincidence!
