Forget me not

This is what I wore to brunch and card making class with the girls on Saturday…
I found this super cute sweatshirt and pleated blush skirt at Nordstrom's lookbooks...

Added these such darling cat eye sunglasses trimmed with pearls…  Gift from my mom….

This super fun ring was an airport purchase from 'swatch' years and years ago during one of my trips to or from Turkey….

The nude sandals my sister bought me to wear as her matron of honor at her wedding….

SATURDAY:
Morning was brutal. It could have been worse but my husband took pity on me and took on the 7:15 AM team photo shoot for my son and gave me 1 extra hour. I still had to get up at 7 and leave by 8 to make it to his 8:30 AM baseball game. My husband left to watch the tennis tournament in Palm Springs with a friend and I had the kids. After the game we only had one hour which was not long enough to go anywhere so we stayed at the premises killing time then had my daughter's acting class. When it was over I rushed to drop them off at my mom's and step dad's and rushed back home to change into this outfit and drive 30 minutes north to meet my friends.
We had an amazing brunch hosted by my friend's sister. Homemade strawberry goat cheese salad and two flat bread pizza's! With signature gin and orange burst or white wine spritzer cocktails.

We then went to this up scale paper/craft store for our 'card making' class. My friend had won this class for 6 at a fundraiser auction event and invited me as well. Not sure if I will ever make cards like this but it sure was fun being all crafty with no children. :)

 Here were my creations:

'Thank you' card using rice paper design tape and also learned to line our envelope!

Using little sponge stickies to make a 3 dimensional pattern. And also heat embossing…. A term I learned there….

Using Glitter and also made our own envelope using calendar pages…
Yes, I know my glitter work really went south there… But the envelope came out good. :)

Heat embossing and soufflĂ© pens to color in…. Soooo cute….

Team Tennis

This was somewhat inspired by the March 2012 issue of In Style Magazine:

I focused on the combo in the corder with yellow shorts and a floral sleeveless top

Tried to take photos before we left the resort but the sun was not ideal and by the time we had the opportunity again it was dark but oh well….

TODAY:
The kids who went to bed at 10:30 PM last night woke up around 5 am all excited to be in a new place!
We were the crankiest family by far given our lack of sleep and trying to keep them quiet until the rest of the civilization woke up at 8 AM.
My husband took them for a walk to explore the resort as soon as the clock hit 8 AM and they played tennis at the courts and killed time. Trying to do some school work was another disaster buy my in-laws joined at this point and came to the rescue by taking that on in their room.
Once it warmed up I took them to the pool and they played for a while. It is nice because there was no one there but I also wished there were at least one other family with kids to keep them company but there weren't. We had lunch together then my in laws left with my hubby for this first day of tennis matches at the tournament.
We came back to the room and after snacks and trying to entertain two very cranky and unreasonable kids I decided to attempt the unthinkable: A NAP!
Amazingly I laid between them in our bed and draw the thick black out curtains and faked these deep breathes and got them to fall a sleep. I couldn't sleep too afraid to even turn but was able to rest my eyes and enjoy the peace and quiet for an hour.
They were so much better when we woke up and we started working on a rainbow loom spiderman project but then I had to get ready to join my hubby at a reception while my in-laws took the kids.
Nice night….
At the reception Billie Jean King was there as the person who started this league and also celebrating the 40th anniversary of the match she won 'battle of the sexes'…

Here are the kids at the resort pool:

And here are a few from the reception:

TODAY:
The week is coming to an end and so am I. Without my husband this week it has been tough mornings and evenings. This morning was tough as well but we managed to get out and get my son to school in time. Then we were off to my daughter's ballet class. Since we arrived so early, I had time stroll with her and show her the lilly pads and the koi pond. She loved it.
After her class we came to the library for story time and craft and checking in out books for the week.
Due to library the kids read approx 2-3 new books every day. During our parenting class they thought us we should always read to our kids at one level below their reading/comprehension level to expand their knowledge of vocabulary and topics which is what I target.  I keep 1-2 new books in the car too everyday so when we are waiting to pick up my son I can read to my daughter or during my daughter's soccer I can read to my son. I hope they adopt this habit when they are older. That to pass time you can always read. No ipads, iphones, dvd players or video games. Just good old fashion paper book. Now when ever we are waiting somewhere my daughter asks if I have a book with me.

After the library we rushed home to work on my daughter's pre-school art project and to meet the repair guy for the microwave and the oven. Thank goodness it was a fuse issue which still cost but not nearly as much as our other appliance malfunctions. And they are now working yeay!
I made snacks and packed all the gear we need and we headed to pick up my son then met a friend at the park for a playdate and to catch-up since the kids are in different school. They go to a private school so I am anxious to compare our curriculum to theirs.
The kids just got dirtier and dirtier there and we headed to soccer practice while I did homework with my son. You can imagine we were all exhausted and our dinner plans turned out to be a big mistake by hitting traffic so it was a late night but we managed.
I did miss out on a cool fashion event tonight but I made the responsible decision and turned down my mom's generous offer to not go herself and to babysit. Weeknights are just too hectic.
