Oh So Thankful

Wow, how behind I am… This was what I wore to Thanksgiving…
I had to have a comfy outfit with comfy shoes as I was hosting and running around but luckily it was a semi chilly day in San Diego so I could still do a fall sweater…

 Sweater - From Turkey
Jeans - Closet
Boots - Shoedazzle
Earrings - Cookie Lee
Necklace - Ann Taylor LOFT

THANKSGIVING DAY:
We cooked all morning with my little girl helping me the whole time…

The table for 12 was set the day before with the help of my sis and daughter… Collected all these pine cones and twigs and dried leaves from the parks we went throughout the week…
Pumpkins and squashes were bought…

The corn/split peas and black bean idea was from Pinterest….

With my Mom and little sister….

AND THAT NIGHT THE ELVES WERE BACK….
They made little indian hats for themselves from the kids art…
(Yes this is what I did after hosting 12 people and cleaning up…. AND THEN went black friday shopping at 8 PM Thursday Night)….

Baby it is cold outside

Another outfit from a very old inspiration. The Ugg Ad in October 2011 issue of Vogue:

It usually just doesn't get that cold in San Diego to wear such outfits that is why these old inspirations were still left in the folder. But this weekend's weather was perfect to support a big fur snood all day long!

Leather  Jacket - Maxx
T-neck - Gap
Pants - Forever 21
Fur scarf - Asos
Boots - Shoedazzle

SUNDAY:
We started the freezing cold day with Turkish School. I met up with my brother-in-law for coffee while the kids were in school.  My mom joined us and together we drove to our local parade. First though we had to stop at the house to add additional cardigans under the coats and stocked up on hats and gloves.
We met up with friends and parked in front of our friend's house and walked down to the parade. It was so fun cause so many of our friend's school's had floats in the parade and we got to wave at so many familiar faces. Even my mom ran into her friend who was walking with her dog in the parade.
I have to say it was by far the longest parade I have ever seen but kids loved it. So many candy canes were given you would think it was Halloween. Then there was a little festival in the park nearby but the mommies could only handle the chilling cold for so long so we walked back to my friend's house to de-thaw and ordered mexican food and had a great time the rest of the evening!

Don't you just love their jackets!? I got them both at JC Penny.  My son's was on clearance for $15!

I think i switched off the auto focus button by mistake so this photo came so blurry! :(

Here are some of our friend sightings in the PARADE:

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Yesterday's cozy holiday outfit to shop for the kids xmas tree and also going to an outdoor birthday party…
Was inspired by this very old Glamour from Nov 2011 issue:
Both of these pieces are so old it is quite ridiculous actually.  This sweater is extremely thick but it is just one of those never goes out of style fair isle ski sweaters. I save it for the coldest weather situations which probably comes once may be twice a year here. The pants are very old but they always fit perfectly and nothing ever happens to them. So here they are surviving many of my closet purges and succeeding to remain in my collection year after year!

Sweater - Victoria's Secret
Pants, Hat - Forever 21
Purse - DKNY
Boots - UGGs

SATURDAY:
We had a nice breakfast at home and took our time getting ready after watching a movie together and lounging around. Then went to a local tree lot to have the kids pick out their tree with my dad.
They keep picking tall and large trees but we had them agree on this size and instead of noble this year we got douglas. It is not the prettiest but the kids love it…

 She has chosen her tree!

Then we came home and I put lights on the tree but we needed more so my mom and stepdad bought some and came over. Then the kids put up their decorations in any way they liked….

The minute we arrived home she put on this outfit, bright tights and the big flower pin included!

The Tree is DONE!

Later we went to my friend's 30th birthday party on the beach. Except it had been raining on and off and it was quite cold and top it all very windy. It was so chilly but we tried to last there thru dinner and the cake then had to come home to warm up. Our friends who had also come to that party stopped by for a while…

Oh and to end the post here was our crazy elves getting into my make-up when we found them Saturday morning:
