Pastoral

This combo I wore on Monday was inspired by this blogger post whose name was Diya I think but I can't remember the blog's name and I know she stopped blogging a year ago….

I liked the idea of combining lace pieces and kimono top creating a very pastel and floral outfit...

Kimono Top - Shop Ruche
Lace top and shorts - Forever 21
Necklace - Etsy
Sandals - J Crew

MONDAY:
We had our usual playdate but it was a short one. We left early to run errands of stopping at Target and library and swim meet to pick up my son's meet ribbon etc…
Then we came home and they swam in our pool and relaxed…

On Tuesday, we went to the Jr. Theater to see the 'Snoopy The Musical' with our outdoor class…

The Madwoman in the Volvo

What I wore Sunday night to our book club meeting….
Inspiration from Anthropologie:

I liked the monotone color layering of different textures.
So instead of cream I went with blush tones. Lace shorts and metallic sweater and tulle and lace hem of the peplum top create the perfect effect.
On top layered a cream bib necklace with a pearl 'obsessed' necklace….

These are the sandals my sister got me for being her matron of honor and I wore them during her wedding. The low heel which I complained about at the time is actually quite practical and comfy.

Sweater - H&M
Top - Charlotte Russe
Shorts, necklaces - Forever 21
Sandals - Nine West
Sunglasses - Ray Ban

SUNDAY NIGHT:
After my son's swim meet my parents took my daughter with them and my hubby took my son to a laser tag/circuit racing birthday party so all of a sudden I was free. After cleaning up at the house I went to the mall to do a return and check out some end of season sales.
Met up with my sister for an afternoon drink and snack before picking up my daughter and coming back home.
Then got changed and went out for our book club meeting.

The book this month was:

It had gotten some great reviews and was portrayed as a book every woman that is 40 something would relate to. Except some of us felt you really needed to be in your late 40s, early 50s to relate to what the author was going thru. And although there were a lot of parts we laughed out loud it was also depressing to find out what we had to look forward to as we got older.
I am 80% done with the book so still need to finish it. The fact that the book does not call me to curl up with it is a tell tale sign that I am not that into it I guess….

Tell me Princess

Today's combo turned out a lot cuter than I imagined....

My inspiration was from the 'Style Obsession' blog (from couple years ago) and the blog is now called 'bed knows and baubles':

My top and shorts turned out to be the same tone which made my delicate pastel floral necklace totally pop. There were so many compliments for the necklace today. And I added the gold flats for some shine...

Top - H&M
Lace Shorts - Forever 21
Gold Flats - Boutique 9
Necklace - gift from my sister

TODAY:
It was my daughter's 'teacher's helper' day which means I bring the snack for the whole class and have to do all the set-up and clean-up that goes with it. Yes, big day for all of us! :)
We tried to get creative with the snack too so it was fresh romaine lettuce, turkey cold cuts, cheddar cheese and fresh baguette bread sliced so the kids could make their own mini sandwiches. It was popular. Especially the bread.
My daughter truly enjoyed her status for the day... It was also 'bring your stuffed animal' day at school where they got to introduce their toy and draw a picture of it and measure its height etc...
Kids loved it...

Gets to ring the bell to let everyone know it is circle time....

1st day of School

Told you guys I would have an outfit post. I picked this out the night before so I had everything ready for my son's big day...

The inspiration was from J Crew:

Cardigan, Shorts - Forever 21
Blouse - H&M
Flats - BCBG
Necklace - Gift from my friend

TODAY:
Such a big day today in our little family's life. My son has started kindergarten! This is a big deal for him but I think a bigger deal for us as it is a milestone where he officially starts his academic part of his life and also signifies how much he has grown. We have been talking about school all summer long and have visited the school playground on a few occasions so he was familiar with all that.
But he got to see his classroom for the first time and met his teacher. There were definitely a number of occasions where I felt my like breaking down and my voice would slightly get shaky and I was so grateful for the large sunglasses that hid my watery eyes but I pulled it together and never showed him how emotional this was for me. I just know he is going to be great if he stays positive.
I went super early again in the afternoon (parking is just horrible at our school) and he was so relieved to see me. And he spent so much time telling us all the things he did at school and who he met etc...

His new lunch bag has not arrived yet so we used his old Scooby one for today...

This is in front and inside his class room. Our school has 4 kindergarten classes approx 22 students in each. We got to go inside and get them pick a station of their choice and hung out for 15 minutes before saying good-bye...

Here are a few shots of the rest of the school outside the kindergarten compound....

End of the day they came out of their class to meet us...
