Chin up princess or the crown slips

Starting another work week... Now that impressions have been made, I can start expressing my true style a bit more...
Mixing patterns and all...

Inspiration from Boden USA's Catalog from last fall:

These Silk pants are very old from J Crew but they never go out of style... Pairing them with the new trend top with ruffle sleeves and of course animal print calf hair flats...

MONDAY:
I try to relax on the weekends but knowing what is coming with a work week starting I tried to get ready with shower, hair, laundry, groceries etc...
Now I get up at 5:30 am with no alarm clock, hating life but getting up.
I pack lunch and snack and prep my breakfast to eat in the car... My treat when I get in the office is a nice cup of coffee after I log in which takes forever with various network firewalls and VPN tokens.
The hours fly by as I barely have time to keep up but I am in a groove now and keep on chugging.
And when I get off it is full mommy mode with kids and their activities. And I try, really really try to let go of the house which is according to my standars is a complete mess but I can only focus on priority items at this time... :)

Heart of Gold

Thursday's outfit was inspired by J Crew's December 2013 catalog:
I liked the idea of adding a baggy cozy sweater over the dressy pants and the beret makes it casual…
These pants always shine and attract so much attention and compliments...

New discovery. I am a person that just gets so cold if I don't have thick socks and boots on during the winter months. So I can never bring myself to bear my ankles and ruin so many looks by wearing socks. I also can't find the right nude shade of knee high stockings. So I gave up looking and wore full length sheer nude panty hose instead and voila looks great...

THURSDAY:
I actually started the day with work out clothes and ran at the park during my daughter morning ballet class. It was pretty freeing to run in fresh air. I usually hate running but once a week might not be so bad and it is a great park to run and I have a solid hour while she is in Ballet. That way I didn't have to exercise at night. We ran a few more errands then came home for a quick shower and change then picked up my son and went to rec center than to tennis and then back home. My sister and brother in law came over and I cooked a healthy dinner for all of us...

Interview

Today's outfit was chosen for an interview I did at my home with a company that is doing a documentary on bloggers and a PhD student that is going to be mining the data bloggers write for his thesis. Knowing I would have no time to change though I wore the whole ensemble minus the heels (which were swapped with white converses) to Pre School.... It was picture day at school so the outfit was actually perfect....

These pants get on average at least 5 compliments every time I wear them!

I spotted this white top online at F21. I realized it was the perfect structured top with a high neck and looks very expansive. It is thick and holds its shape. And creates the ultimate canvas for all sorts of statement necklaces....

Mixed wrap and cuff bracelets on one arm and the other arm featured this gorgeous owl leather wrap bracelet my mom and step dad got for me for Mother's Day!

TODAY:
Sometimes at the end of the day I look back on what I did that day and even I am amazed.
Today was one of those days.

When I got a call from one of my mommy friends from pre-school that they are about to loose her mother in law I immediately said yes to taking her kids. I fully prepared myself to keep them for the night and tomorrow in case things took a bad turn. We went to pre-school on time and early so we can be part of the class photo. Than right after snack took her kids and my daughter back home. My mom met me there to play with the kids upstairs while I conducted this documentary interview in my living room. My hubby who did not trust these contacts who have found me on the internet stayed and worked from home so he can monitor them. 2 camera guys, one producer and the PhD studen and all their equipment felt quite foreign in our living room but it was exciting. If so much was not going on in the house I would have asked mom or hubby to take a photo of this happening but there wasn't an opportunity... I honestly didn't even have time to think about their questions in advance so I just answered them all naturally. They wee more interested on what I wrote and my views on privacy and readership than anything to do with fashion. They were quite efficient though and ended in 2 hours as they promised. During which my mom left to pick up my son and my hubby served all 4 kids now lunch. I changed into workout clothes and put the little one down for a nap and took out toys for the others and even got to clean the house and pay bills. Then got in touch with their aunt and took her kids to the aunt's house then took mine to swim class.
You would think I was done right? oh no...
After swim class we stopped at Party City to buy more stuff for the upcoming parties we are hosting then to mom's where I met my sister's best friend to discuss the details of the bridal shower we are hosting for her while my parents played with the kids. The more we planned to more overwhelmed I felt with all that is going to be coming up but I am sure it will all happen somehow.
Mom cooked us all dinner and my daughter fell a sleep an hour early as we drove home! If only I could too but doing laundry as I have to pack the whole family tomorrow for our 3 day trip to San Francisco....

Making the Cut

My outfit yesterday as I took the kids to a Jr. Theater ballet with my daughter's class...

The inspiration was from the J Crew Catalog:
My pants are from their last season collection but the concept of pairing silky pants for day wear is the same...

Initially I put on the gorgeous J crew statement necklace my hubby got but then decided to to go with the blue theme to pick up the navy from the pants instead...

For practicality during the day I switched to silver ballet flats instead of these... but it was totally pushing it to be without socks.  My feet were freezing.

Blouse - Lucky
Pants - J Crew
Watch - Target
Sweater, necklace, shoes - Forever 21
Bracelets - the charm one is from India and the others I can't remember....

WEDNESDAY:
For 2nd time in this semester I kept my son home from school so we can all go to the Jr. Theater play of 'Go Dog Go' inspired by Dr. Seuss's famous book. The kids got such a kick out of the silly play laughing hard. Although my son felt it was a little below his age but he liked it regardless...
Afterwards I wanted to just go to the indoor place and work while they played but they wanted to hang out with their friends so we went to the near by large park and they played to their heart's content for an hour....

Do you like this new hair style I came up? I started doing my classic front braid and then decided to continue all around like a tiara. She loved it. It was her idea to add more flowers. Also her idea to wear her 'sugar plum fairy' dress up dress to the play. She originally thought she was actually going to star in the play and had a breakdown when I told her she can't go on stage. Kids. :)

Notice the tiny ice cream cone in her hand and the mouth covered in chocolate!? She sneaked into the deep freezer and stole one!
Got to love the missing tooth smiles!
He will think he looked so dorky when he is grown looking at these photos but as mom's these days are just the most precious....
