Salud

I am so pleasantly surprised on how cute today's combo came together. I love it when an inspiration actually pans out better than I expected.

The inspiration photo:
When I saw this I thought of the deep shades of purple and bordeaux mixed with black and brown. And the hat!

I tucked in the cognac striped sweater. My instinct was to add black tights and boots but the brown actually goes great and the belt pulls it all together.
I have officially decided to keep this skirt (by kikaPaprika)  from my samples. Where else am I going to find a perfectly fitting full skirt that has a tailored look and yet machine washable and no ironing needed!

This hat was my Grandpa (rest his soul) and I love wearing it....

Hat - Vintage
Sweater - Forever 21
Skirt - kika Paprika ('Brit')
Boots - Newport News
Belt - I do not remember as it is very old.
Necklace - Cookie Lee
Coat - Ann Klein

TODAY:
Went to see a play with my daughter's class. It was an odd story called the 'stinky cheese man' apparently a book where they change the happy ending of every fairy tale or children's riddle. The kids were more confused than entertained so it was a bit of a miss I think.
The cool thing is it is a Jr. Theater so all the actors are high school age kids or younger which sets a great example to the kids seeing other kids on stage.

Tonight going to mommy's night event through the organization that helps form mommy groups.

Change of Pace

Today's combo came out pretty cute in my opinion. You never know with these risky combo's sometimes they look great sometimes not so much.

This inspiration was saved very long ago from this online store 'Make Me Chic' website lookbook:
Of course I haven't bought any of these items but I owned very similar pieces to create the combo...

I double wrapped the infiniti scarf to create the cape effect...

Saw this 'evil eye' nail design from ElleSees blog and adopted it right away. My base blue was a little darker but at least I had all the colors at home already. Some evil eyes have yellow in them too. I might try that next...

Hat - was a gift from my mom to my sister and she felt it was too big for her.
Cape - Infiniti scarf from Costco of all places!
Top - Gap
Short - Forever 21
Tights - We love color
Boots - Forever 21

TODAY:
Instead of regular class today we had family PJ night in class in the evening. So we had a free day with my daughter went to Nordstrom rack for xmas shopping. After couple hours treated her to burgers and fries at a diner in the mall and ordered here a 'pink' shake! She had to stand to drink from it!

Then in the evening we picked up a pizza pie and went to the indoor class so kids can have dinner then put on their PJs and listen to stories and watch movies with their friends on pillows and blankets.
My brother and nephew joined us as well...

My son sharing his pillow with cousin....

Catching up

Going to be a two outfit post today as I just want to catch up... This was my outfit Tuesday. I had black tall but flat boots during the day (to Wild Animal Park of all places!) and high heels at night when we went out to dinner with family with no kids.

The inspiration was from People StyleWatch's November 2011 issue:
Just simple and cozy outfit but allowed me to wear these super cool lace shorts that I have not worn many times...

Jacket, Scarf, Hat, Shorts, tights - Forever 21
Top - Gap
Booties - Michael Antonio

TUESDAY:
Went to wild animal park with our outdoor class. This was a back to back field trip week with Sea World on Monday and this park on Tuesday it was quite tiring. Kids have a great time and I love seeing their reactions but it does wipe you out.  And I am so busy with work that just struggling to catch-up and do everything I want to do.
Afternoon my parents came over to babysit the kids while my husband and I joined my dad and brother and the family visiting from Turkey for a dinner out and adult conversation.

OUTFIT #2

This was my outfit today! Yeay, I am actually posting on the day of wearing the outfit!

The inspiration was from Lucky's November 2011 issue. I guess I was on a November 2011 kick these two days:
Again very simple but combining a summer dress for winter wear... I like these simple inspirations when I don't feel like fussing with my outfit but still look a bit unique and stylish...

Added this silver and nickel chain necklace I just bought to sell with my clothes over the scarf:

And this glam ring:

Striped tank maxi dress - Soprano (Marshall's)
Jacket, Scarf - Forever 21
Necklace, Ring - Cookie Lee
Purse - Thread Show
Sunglasses - House of Harlow

TODAY:
Normal preschool day. I was dragging my feet this morning. The schedule is getting to me a bit and I am hanging in there but feeling really worn out. After pre school we decided spur of the moment to go out to lunch to a diner that opened up near the pre-school. It was great way to wind down and actually eat a meal.
I had a business meeting during kids' nap time working on organizing a multi host spring fashion bash in May. Then took the kids to the indoor play area to get a bit more work in.
