In the end we'll all become stories

 What I wore last Thursday...

With the coat:

Inspiration from Pinterest:

This was such a cool outfit. The dress was somewhat form fitting and short but the high boots provide leg coverage and the bulky tartan scarf made it look chic...

 Coat, Scarf - Forever 21
Dress - Cotton On
Boots - Shoedazzle
Sunglasses - Gucci

THURSDAY:
The day was crazy with running errands and volunteering at school, packing, taking kids to baseball and gymnastics and then leaving them with a sitter and rushing to my book club meeting!

We just finished reading:
"Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis" by J.D. Vance

It is a phenomenal book.  I highly recommend it. I would have never picked this up if it wasn't for my book club and I am so glad I read it. The author captures the root of this culture so well and though totally loyal and proud of his heritage he also remain unbiased and holds them responsible for the problems they face.

As usual so many laughs and great discussion with my dear friends. I love hanging out with these intelligent well read women.

Pumpkin Patch Kids

I have been down with the cold the last two days hence lounging in the house with yoga pants. Today finally got my strength to continue our activities.  The heat is back here with a vengence so no fall clothes for us yet. To make it worse we had a field trip to a huge pumpkin patch/dairy farm that is east so over 100 degree weather. Imagine a dairy/cow farm in 100 degree weather. Not a nice smell for sure!

The inspiration was from Victoria's Secret Catalog. Just simple get up of browns and blue:

Cardigan - Forever 21
T-shirt & Shorts - TJ Maxx
Necklaces - From Turkey and vintage
Boots - Steve Madden

TODAY:
Field trip to Oma's Pumpkin Patch with my daughter's class:

On the Hay Ride:

She had a fun day today!
And yes wore this long sleeve top cause it was new in 100 degree weather but at least it protected her from the sun. :)

Some kind of wonderful

Today's outfit was an inspiration from the J Crew Catalog:

Tee, Pants - Forever 21
Hat - Jessica Simpson
Belt - J Crew
Wedges - Guess

TODAY:
My husband and I split up with each kid to spend some quality one on one time. Especially he needed some bonding time with our daughter. I suggested to my son we go downtown to check out all the activity around Comic Con but he didn't want to. So we went to Barnes and Noble, my all time favorite book store. I could spend hours in there and not be bored. My son who is a major book lover like me was in heaven in the 'Jr.' segment of the store. We read a few books there and he picked out a lego book that came with a story and pieces to build and couple advanced books for him. Slowly transitionning to books with fewer photos, longer story lines where we would read a few chapters each night instead of the whole book. He was excited.
Then we went to the mall and spent some time in the Disney store and the Lego store eating lunch and pretzel snack in between. He amazingly has the patience to just be able to browse a store without having to buy something if you tell him in advance.
I even managed to check out the J Crew's sale section (OK, had to bribe him with a game on the i-phone) and scored these $230 pants I have been eying and clearance (for $40) and exactly one pair left in my size!

We then met my hubby and daughter at the movies to see Ice Age 4!
Great day...

Night Owl

Friday night's work party outfit was pairing the new espresso 'Annie' top with the pencil skirt. Then I decided it needed color and added a coral tank under...

This is actually a blouse top but you can wear it like a jacket...

Top - 'Annie' in espresso from Kika Paprika
Tank - 'Shane' in aqua from Kika Paprika
Skirt - 'Simone' in camel from Kika Paprika
Necklace - Cookie Lee
Boots - Forever 21

TODAY:
Preschool in the morning which was packed since we did a class photo. The class ended a bit early so a group of us went to Rubio's for lunch. The mommies joked if only we could escape to the other side of the restaurant to eat in peace and get a beer while our kids did crazy things.
I cooked dinner and did a quick load of laundry while the kids napped. My mom's friend hosted a Kika party for me at my house. I like it when they host at my house cause I don't have to pack everything and load and unload and no need to leave 1.5 hour in advance either. The hosts like it too cause they don't have to worry about cleaning up their house.
We had such a fun time dressing up her friends. They loved the clothes and everything looked great...
