The Light We Cannot See

Friday's Inspiration from Pinterest:

Lace skirt with sweater and taupe booties…
I didn't have time to take photos before I left the color inside is not the best but you get the gist...

Sweater - H&M
Shorts - Forever 21
Necklace - Vintage
Booties - Apri (from Marshalls)

FRIDAY:
Crazy day running around. In the afternoon my son went to an evening birthday party and I took my daughter to my mom's to spend the night before going to my book club gathering.
We had a late late night talking and having fun.
The book we just finished 'All the light we cannot see' by Anthony Doerr. Pulitzer prize and yes beautiful writing but the story did not captivate me.
We are going to read Orphan Train next...

Oh, what made the meeting even sweeter was these gorgeous and yummy apple pie roses my friend made for dessert!

White Petals

Here is my outfit the day before the trip to Big Bear to spend July 4th with friends….

The inspiration was from J Crew:
Rose and taupe make a nice combo and I scored this similar sweater from J Crew's recent sale:

The new blonde hair. Will get better in couple of weeks when I go back to re-tone and add some dimension color…
And I got the back cut again… Felt the shoulder length hair was getting boring and harder to style...

Sweater - J Crew
Necklace - Marni for H&M
Shorts - Forever 21
Sandals - Victoria's Secret
Sunglasses - Karen Walker

THURSDAY:
Spent the day packing and cleaning up the house then running errands of returns and last minute shopping and heading back to Big Bear for a fun weekend to spend July 4th.
Our usual group of four families. So that is 8 Adults, 8 kids…
Can't wait to share the photos when I get back. Especially the photos of the four of us in our hand made matching tank tops….

HAVE A GREAT 4TH OF JULY if you are in the U.S.A…

Can you dig it?

Monday's outfit was inspired by a lookbook photo in Shoedazzle's website….

A flowy taupe tank with army green pants and brown booties and leather jacket… My tank and necklace added some funky pop of neon to this too….

Already had water marks all over my outfit by the time

Jacket - Forever 21
Tank - some small beach boutique
Pants - Bebe
Booties - Betsey Johnson
Necklace - Miss Selfridge

MONDAY:
It was President's day so even though my husband had to work, the kids were off school. I had promised to take them to the Lego Movie so that is what we did. I have to say I truly enjoyed the movie. Everything was authentic lego pieces and I love legos so it was amazing to watch and the 3D effects were very cool.  The kids loved it as well. Pretty long movie too.
Afterwards we bought lunch and went to my Dad's house so I can help my cousin with the closet clean-up. Of course the kids caused more of a mess in the backyard at the same time so not sure how much help I was…
After we rushed home to change and go swimming only to find out it had been moved to morning and we had missed it. That sucked. So we came back home and cooked dinner. My friend came over to catch-up on our shows that we had missed over the last month….

Neutral Territory

I wasn't sure if I was going to go out tonight so decided to wear a worthy outfit during the day too. It has been so hot during the days, totally summer. But in the mornings and late afternoon it is totally fall. So hard for me to dress for summer in the morning when it is so chilly. So going with boots and sleeveless is the most I could bare.  This inspiration from Jennifer Aniston's travel get-up was great:

I love this mix of taupe, tan and white and brown. And I rarely utilize this sleeveless sweater vest so happy to find a combo for it...

Vest, Tank Top, Jeans, necklace - Forever 21
Boots - Madden Girl
Earrings - Cookie Lee
Purse - Dior

TODAY:
Oh my goodness it was just insane today. I drove around so much that I lost track. I had so much to do at home so normally I would stay out and do the activities in the most time and location efficient manner. But since I wanted to come back home after each event it was soooo much driving around. I drove to and back from downtown 3 times today. First was for the ballet class in the morning. Then we came home so I could shower and cook lunch and clean up the house. Then second time for my dentist appt. Which required setting up a corner in that cramped dentist room for her to play on her i-pad and color. The ladies got a huge kick out of her asking 'how do you spell you-tube?'
She loves watching music videos on you tube. Yes, she is only 4.5 years old! After the dentist we came home again so I could cook dinner this time and pay the bills. Then picked up my son and came back home again so I could take out the dinner form the oven and help my son with his homework and feed them snacks. Then we went to our soccer/tennis combo which is at the same time but in two different locations that are close but still driving distance apart. So I drop off my son at tennis then go drop off my daughter then go back to my son and pull him out early then go pick up my daughter. Makes me dizzy.  Thank goodness it is the last soccer practice so it won't be this crazy anymore. Although my daughter is already asking to enroll in gymnastics or acting.
Anyway, after that we came home for the last time and I gave the kids a much needed shower. My mom came over with dinner for them and took over while I got ready. My cousin came over and we had the dinner I cooked then went out to meet the girls at another promotional event that had free drinks and food. Got to love these events. That outfit will be posted tomorrow. :)

She wanted to pose with me…. This is after ballet before dentist.
 Her pose….

Game Changer

Today's casual combo was from April 2011 issue of In Style Magazine:

It was an interesting combo to wear my harem pants which I don't that often at all. And this shades of grey and taupe is kind of cool.
I tried it with the brown wedges but it was boring. I felt the fashion sneaker wedges were cooloer...

Sweater, Pants - Forever 21
Necklace - Shoedazzle
Sneakers - Steve Madden
Purse - from Harvard

TODAY:
I have a bit more wiggle room Tuesday mornings so it is nice. I actually get to sleep in until 7 AM. Once I get all the lunches packed and send off my hubby and son, I can relax and eat my breakfast sitting down. We then head to outdoor class which was by the beach today but the weather was quite cold and I even wore my silver grey parka over this outfit which looked silly but I was cold.
By noon it warmed up. We went to the indoor play area so I can job search but then got a call from the school to find out my son does not have after school science today as they apparently skipped a week before starting session 2, so I had to rush to pick him up from the office which I felt so bad.
We came home to rest and then homework and their halloween costumes arrived in the mail so they were stoked. I love my 'mad hatter' costume too. My daughter of course has 3 costumes this halloween so she can wear different ones to different events. The one that arrived is the Monster High, Abby Abominable outfit. I had to narrow her selection to a suitable one as some of the monster high costumes are quite racy... This one is cute though with fuzzy leg and arm warmers and white hair with blue and pink extensions.
