Parisian Prep

Today's sweet combo was inspired by a very old issue of Elle Magazine. I think at least couple years old...

I added my tulle skirt under the denim one to create a layered effect and lengthen the mini. I gave away the striped top I had in mind for this outfit during my closet cleaning so settled for this cute tee I won from a blog giveaway instead...

Blazer, tulle skirt - Forever 21
Denim Skirt - Charlotte Russe
Tee - from a blog
Earrings - Juicy Coutre
Ring -gift from Mom
Watch/cuff bracelet - Betsey Johnson (another gift from Mom)
Shoes - I can't read the brand name (they are so old)

TODAY:
My hubby is traveling for work training so I am flying solo everyday this week. And there seems to be some sort of a curse on our household appliances. Last two weeks we had to replace the water heater and spent hundreds on the upstairs toilet. Now our shower wall/door has shattered and we have to get a whole new shower and last night our microwave and oven stopped working!
Weird right?
I tried to prep everything so the morning was actually pretty smooth. Just had to get up before 6:30 AM which is really brutal but I am getting used to it.
At my daughter's pre-school it was her sharing and she is so enjoying her class.

Game Night

This my outfit Saturday Night for my big 'game night birthday party'. Yes, I know my birthday had so many events but this is the last one I promise. Due to family travel schedule this was the only weekend we could get everyone together...

My outfit inspiration was from the Bloomingdales' summer catalog:

Tee, Vest, Jeans - Forever 21
Heels - Rock Republic from Kohl's
Bracelets - Bauble Bar
Earrings - Cookie Lee
Belt - J Crew

Before I cropped the photo above this was the original with my son in the back doing his dance moves.
 And with both kids....

Earlier in the afternoon we went to my daughter's first soccer game in the smoldering heat. I felt like I was in Palm Dessert it was unbearable....
But the kids were too cute for words...

Then at night we had close to 45+ people come to a highly structured game night at our house.
My parents were rockstars by missing half the party to entertain the kids upstairs and put them to bed. Then to top it all my mom cleaned up after the whole party while I was socializing. My husband and Dad did all the shopping and my sis and her friend were the primary bar tenders. My amazing friends who I forced to lead each game took charge and explained the game rules to the groups and kept us on track.  It was a huge joint effort.

I gave each person a 'game card' what told them which game they were playing at each rotation time slot. Set up 4 games at four different sections of the house. I envisioned the groups would get mixed up more but that was the flaw a lot of people stayed in the same groups. We had 15 minute break between each rotation for mingling and drinks. It amazingly stayed close to time. I wish we had more photos but we were all playing...
Oh the games were mostly group games: Catch Phrase, Outburst, Guesstures and Pop Cranium...
I had a snack table by the kitchen but I also put snack sampler trays at each game table and my sis helped me stock them up after rotations. We must have made 3 to 4 batches of my signature cocktails too during each break...

And the people with the most 'wins' on their game cards got these mini alcohol prizes I wrapped up in colorful tissue paper....

It was such a fun night....

First of Last

Today's hot summer outfit was inspired by a very old Anthropologie catalog:

I realized though when I belted this dress I constantly had issues. First of all the dress I have on is more a-lined so has a lot of material on the bottom and waist when belted. Second it is not as long as the inspiration photo so when you belt it became shorter. By the afternoon I ditched the belt and it was more comfy and cooler I think...

Dress - BCBG
Belt - Thrifted
Sandals - Luxury Rebel
Earrings - Thread Show
Bracelet - gift from my aunt from Turkey

TODAY:
First day of pre-school for my daughter. Of course this is the co-op style school we go where I have to work as well. But it was nice seeing our friends again and we have plans to conduct a more orderly class so should be nice. When we first got to the outside doors and my daughter ran up to press the handicap button to open the doors I remembered when we first stated these classes I had to lift her to reach that button. Very nostalgic.
After school we came home and I have to admit I focused on creating spreadsheet game cards for this mega game birthday party we are hosting for me tomorrow night.
We have approx 54 people coming! So created this system where we will have 4 stations/4 games and people will receive game cards that will tell them which game to play when. Mixing and mingling people. Should be interesting. I had to create 56 game cards with different game rotations and am now working on writing up game rules etc...
My hubby went costco shopping for snacks and booze and tomorrow we'll manage to gather 50+ chairs and set them up in various parts of the house. I hope we manage to take some cool photos to show you guys...I have no idea what I am wearing yet either...

In the afternoon by the way after picking up my son we went to the mall so he can buy his prize for finishing another 100 lessons in his math workbook and my daughter picked a prize for finishing all her lettters in her workbook. Her choice of store of course was the disney store.
We then stopped at Steve Madden store which is apparently closing for a remodel therefore slashed their prices on current season items to $15 a pair when you buy two pairs! Literally booties that are currently for $129 in the website was selling for $15. I must have texted so many friends to let them know.
