In the Trenches - Bloggers Do It Better

 I wanted to link up to Bloggers Do It Better coat event so had to pick an outfit that involved a coat today. But it also had to be appropriate for my day which was going to involve a busy morning and then sitting in a car for 5+ hours. That part was the toughest. But as I was going through my inspirations I found this from J Crew's September Catalog:

 I am always drawn to funky color combo's.  And I also loved how odd this was incorporating sweat pant like pants, sneakers and a coat! I swapped the colors of the sneakers and the pants since that is what I owned. The outfit was amazingly comfortable by the way. I loved being in it all day. And I layered the sweater over a same neon colored tee when it was hot I was still in the same color combo. My dad and Aunt appreciated in the car ride! (I am being sarcastic! :))

TODAY:

Started the day with ballet class at the park which the outfit came in very handy because it was freezing that early and I was so glad to have the trench on. Then we rushed to the library for story time and returning our weekly books and getting a new stack. 

Then we came home and I emptied my car of kid car seats and vacuumed and put 3 down pillows and a blanket to get it comfy for my dad for a long car ride to and back to LAX airport to take my aunt for her flight back to Turkey.

The traffic was awful going there due to an accident but we got her in plenty of time then headed back with a stop for a quick dinner and to avoid the rush hour traffic on the way back.

For this I picked the 'paige' top from my Kika Paprika collection in the perfect shade for this competition. We call it 'Bordeaux' but it is the perfect shade of 'oxblood' especially on this fabric.

The inspiration was from the August 2012 issue of Lucky Magazine:

I love the combination of oxblood with teal and the unusual combination of the red heels. I also duplicated the white collar and rhinestone bracelets which I think create a nice contrast against the deep hue of the top...

TODAY:
Had a nice breakfast out with family (my in-laws) although I wasn't too keen on waking up so early but we have to given that our kids get up by 6:30 AM and are always starving. After a short walk past breakfast we said our good-bye's and I headed off to Turkish School with the kids.
With only an hour break in between we then went to our friend's house to see their new home and have dinner together. It was a nice relaxing night with good friends... If weren't so lazy and into enjoying our night I would have taken some great photos of the kids playing together. The girls dressed in princess clothes giving each other princess check-ups and the 4 boys doing a break-dance dance off.

I'm Almost Not Crazy

 Today's Sequined skirt combo was inspired by a photo in the Victoria's Secret Catalog:

I spent 20 minutes this morning looking for my silver sequined skirt. I was certain it was in the bin where I keep evening gowns on top of my daughter's closet. But it wasn't. Then searched all the extra closets in the house and no luck. In all honesty I don't remember when I saw it last so for all I know I might have given it away years ago. So, had to settle to wearing my black sequin skirt instead. This is the famous skirt I wore to my prom and  I have worn a few times to a club with my hubby. This is the first time I am wearing it during the day. And to pre school of all places!
But as I always say people expect nothing less form me so my outfits no longer have a shock effect on people that do know me. And I have to admit this stretchy mini is quite comfortable to move around and since it is high waist it does not ride up.
To make it work for the day I went super casual with everything else!

And all this was so I can participate in

TODAY:
Managed to convince the kids to stay home so we can get ready for our trip. Paid all the bills, gave the kids a bath, packed, did laundry and put those away, cooked, grocery shopped and got my nails done!
My iphone cover has arrived today!
While ordering that I had also ordered a very cool mug. It is totally me!
