So Bright

Yesterday's bright neon outfit was inspired by Lucky's October 2013 issue:
I got this bright sweater and plan to use it a lot this winter. I realized afterwards though the dainty purse doesn't quite go with the vibe of the outfit even though the color works.

Sweater - Forever 21
Denim Shirt - from Turkey

THURSDAY:
It was a day of being out in the cold. Waited outside for my daughter's hour long ballet lesson in the morning. We then stopped by at my dad's house to deliver dinner and see him for a little while. Then it was to the indoor play area for job searching. Picked up my son and came home and cleaned up before we left again. My husband took off early so he can come take my son to tennis and be with him while my daughter and I picked up subs and went off for her first theater rehearsal for the nutcracker. I also had a volunteer shift of security which was the only thing left and standing outside in the cold is not fun at all. But once everyone was signed in we came inside and I peeked in to see my little ballerina on stage with the biggest smile on her face saying 'I was born to be here'. It is very hard for the candies cause they have to sit on the edge of the stage facing the audience while the sugar plum does her dance behind them. So of course they all want to turn back and look. My daughter couldn't stop talking about how pretty sugar plum fairy looked while dancing with her 'boyfriend'. :)
Even though it was so late and were dismissed early she begged to stay to see the finale but I told her we can stay during the dress rehearsal on Monday which will be even cooler.
By the time we came home my son and husband were already in bed and asleep!

I practiced the 'ballet bun' for the first time using those bun doughnuts and it worked out great...

Sparkle and Shine

I chose an outfit today that had some sequins so I can participate in the EBEW event. But clicking on their website now I am not sure if they are still hosting. I guess we'll find out.

The inspiration came from the November 2011 issue of Lucky Magazine. It was the 'letters to editor' page I think and they had this hand drawn outfit:
I liked the idea of pairing magenta with camel colors and sequins....
To create the sequined top I layered my new camel cowl neck tunic under the sequined tank.
This tunic is great. Love its long and lean cut. And it is tissue thin.

Although I was worried about adding more shine to the outfit I still went ahead and added these:

Since it was cold and rainy I added a trench coat and the magenta beret I bought a while back but had not worn yet.

And once again my umbrella happens to match perfectly.

Trench Coat - Guess
Sequin Tank - Charlotte Russe
Cowl Neck Sweater, Jeans, Accessories, Hat - Forever 21
Heels - Steve Madden
Tote - LV
Umbrella - Coach

If it is actually taking place I am participating in

TODAY:
Since my son was sick today we didn't go to preschool. And of course it was pouring so no park outing either. I came up with taking them to Ikea. We bought some everyday water glasses, a duvet cover for my son and bath sponges. Random I know. Then my parents met us there for lunch. My son was fading fast again so we came home and he thankfully listened to me and did take a nap. It was a quiet afternoon at home.

What is your sign?

I thought I had already posted but apparently I had not. So this is going to be a quick post as it is super late...
This is the Pancho I bought in Philadelphia when I was stranded there due to passport fiasco during our Jamaica vacation. I like that it has sleeves.

Added the fair isle tights. I bought 2 different colors of these and have been waiting for the right outfit to wear them with.

Pancho - Old Navy
Dress, tights, boots, hat - Forever 21

TODAY:
Went to another Santa Breakfast this morning followed by kids' gym classes.
After naps we were going to go to Legoland but my parents volunteered to take the kids with the free passes we had for them and we stayed home to go through our crazy garage. The big remodel is going to happen this Thursday so we had a lot of stuff to sort through....

After gym class wearing a bumble bee costume and having a yogurt snack!

Whistle me a tune

Going cozy and casual today. Now that I plan my outfits for the whole week it has been so nice. From trial and error I now try to match  not only the weather forecast but also the activities we are going to be doing. Knowing today would be lounging around and then going to the dentist I wanted something that was comfy that would not cause me to want to change into sweats after a few hours. And this was perfect.

The inspiration came from
October 2011 issue of People Style Watch
(one of my favorite magazines for inspirations).
I liked the first photo where the concept of pairing skinny jeans or leggings with thigh high boots and a cozy pancho!
This pancho is another one of those super old items that I just knew would come back in style and did not give it away but kept it in the kids' closets. Since last winter I have been able to wear it a few times.

This is the beret I bought when the previous one turned out to be funkier than I envisioned. Love this oatmeal color. At 2 for $10 from F21 it was tempting to get one in every color!

Pancho - Max Studio (TJ Maxx I am sure)
Striped t-neck worn under - Forever 21
Denim leggings - Elle (Kohl's)
Flat OTK suede boots - Steve Madden
Beret - Forever 21
Sunglasses - Channel

TODAY:
I woke up early actually for our off day since my in-laws were here and used that time to prep the crock pot dinner put away laundry and get everyone including myself ready. When they left for breakfast we left shortly after for the indoor play area. I finally finished my calendar projects and ordered them on snapfish. After a very argumentative call with Pottery Barn over my recent loveseat order for my daughter's room we made it home in time for naps. I went to the dentist for a filling appointment while my parents babysat.
Late afternoon my friend came over with her boys and we cooked a joint effort dinner.
Afterwards we dressed her for her husband's 20s theme Christmas party tomorrow night.
We went for the suit with a fur collar and a hat look. My red hat was perfect for a holiday party. Added satin animal print gloves and pearl accessories and lace up booties. I even had 3 different kinds of purses to choose from. Amazing what can come out of my closet.

Round it up

This was my outfit today to visit Legoland with my sister and her fiance and the kids of course!

The inspiration came from October 2011 issue of the Elle Magazine:

The weather was unusually cold though so I had to add the scarf for extra warmth and the hat!
I ordered this hat online but then it didn't have the classic beret feel so ordered a different style. But today I wanted a beanie style hat and this worked perfect. Adding the new round sunglasses I found at TJ Maxx the other night gave the perfect effect I was going for:

Hat, Cardigan, Jeans, Necklace - Forever 21
Boots - Mia
Sunglasses - Betsey Johnson

TODAY:
Even though I was dead tired I didn't want to break my promise to take my sister and her fiance to Legoland with the kids using our 'bring a friend' passes that are only good until Xmas. It was a fun day. My son just adores her fiance and calls him his bed bud. He wanted to ride every ride with him. Since Legoland has ridiculously crazy rules I mostly waited for them and took photos. My daughter is crazy about getting her face painted now. So before we could do too many rides we had to go to the princess castle for her face painting. We left early and left them to explore the park in peace until closing. At home of course no one napped! My friend came over with her boys so we can spend the afternoon without doing anything together. My mom came to spend some time with the kids as well and with everyone there I ran around like crazy trying to get everything done around the house. Finally got everything done and even the kids bathed and in bed with team work. I even managed to get my husband to team up to get the xmas cards labeled and stamped so they can go in the mail tomorrow.
