Kilt, Argyle and Stripes - Monday Mingle

Wanted to start off the week with an outfit that is funky and out there.

Got my inspiration from the November 2011 issue of Glamour Magazine:

Since kilt has made a come back I had been thinking about this skirt of my mom's that is from ages and ages ago. I knew it was hanging in her closet and it is the perfect length and design and print. She will probably comment to enlighten us all where it is from but it is great quality. I borrowed 5 pieces from her with the intention of wearing them all in one week so I can give them back but the weather turned on me last week so trying to make that up this week and next hopefully. Although I have about 3 more outfits with this skirt so you will be seeing it often for a little while.

The layers are a bit funky but I think they work. See bottom for info...
Also do you guys know why my camera does this? It over exposes the light colored item in my outfit and makes it hard to distinguish. I can't fix it afterwards. See how the blouse neck and sleeves are all over exposed?

TODAY:
Everything was normal at preschool this morning. Afterwards just before coming home for lunch I just wanted to run two tiny errands:
Going to the UPS store to mail a return box and xmas cards and
picking up and dropping off dry cleanning.
Both of these stores have store front parking where I can leave the kids in the car and just run in. So should piece of cake, right?
BUT NO.
First as I try to turn into the UPS store I see the enterence to the lot is blocked. So now I have to drive all the way around the block and turn back from the other side. Only to find out the entire parking lot in that area is being re-done and no parking is allowed. So I have to wait for a parking that is totally far and get in just barely. But now I have to get the kids out of the car but find out they both have taken off their socks and shoes! After putting those on and walking across the empty lot trying not to step in the newly painted lines we get in. In the store they become crazy kids climbing over each other and crying at some point. I should add that since my daughter had a potty accident right before we left school she is wearing just a tutu with nothing under. We get that done get back in the car and go to the dry cleaners. There the lady is new and she can't find my stuff and it takes forever. I get done clenching my teeth and we head home. Our normal turn is blocked for another raod work (what the heck!???) so we again drive all the way around which is like 15 blocks since there is no other direct street. So 40 minutes later we are home! I take deep deep breaths as we enter and both kids are crying for lunch and tattoo's at the same time!
Some days are just harder than others!

Round it up

This was my outfit today to visit Legoland with my sister and her fiance and the kids of course!

The inspiration came from October 2011 issue of the Elle Magazine:

The weather was unusually cold though so I had to add the scarf for extra warmth and the hat!
I ordered this hat online but then it didn't have the classic beret feel so ordered a different style. But today I wanted a beanie style hat and this worked perfect. Adding the new round sunglasses I found at TJ Maxx the other night gave the perfect effect I was going for:

TODAY:
Even though I was dead tired I didn't want to break my promise to take my sister and her fiance to Legoland with the kids using our 'bring a friend' passes that are only good until Xmas. It was a fun day. My son just adores her fiance and calls him his bed bud. He wanted to ride every ride with him. Since Legoland has ridiculously crazy rules I mostly waited for them and took photos. My daughter is crazy about getting her face painted now. So before we could do too many rides we had to go to the princess castle for her face painting. We left early and left them to explore the park in peace until closing. At home of course no one napped! My friend came over with her boys so we can spend the afternoon without doing anything together. My mom came to spend some time with the kids as well and with everyone there I ran around like crazy trying to get everything done around the house. Finally got everything done and even the kids bathed and in bed with team work. I even managed to get my husband to team up to get the xmas cards labeled and stamped so they can go in the mail tomorrow.

December Nights

This was my outfit for the crazy day we had today!

The inspiration was again from Bee of Atlantic Pacific:

The outfit caught my attention cause of that little flash of chartuse you see in her outfit. I like to get more use out of this 100% cashmere shrug I found at Charlotte Russe for $10 on clearance. And what a cool idea to combine it with b/w flannel shirt. I picked the outfit for today cause it included a big black coat. Of course I forgot to take photos with the coat which I wore later in the night!

I also just love the idea of adding layers and layers of pearls to a casual outfit. It is instant glam!
Layered the short anniversary gift from my hubby pearl necklace over the long faux pearl over the soft bib necklace! On my arm is the new pearl cuff bracelet from F21 plus the two silver charm bracelets. On my finger is the raised pearl and rhinestone beauty from Turkey.

Loving the House of Harlow cat eye's!

TODAY:
I will let the photos tell our crazy day. In short we left the house a bit before 9 AM and did not return until almost 7 PM!
First activity was: BREAKFAST WITH SANTA
Met our friends there. Kids had their photo taken with Santa, did crafts, danced to Hullabaloo (local musician) and got face painting:

2nd Activity was ZOO & watching the Musical Little People Show at the Zoo:
We only added this activity cause we wanted to get a parking spot for one of the largest events of the city: "December Nights" that takes place in our famous Balboa Park (our version of Central Park). The zoo is also in the park and has the largest parking lot. They shut down all these lots I think by 1 PM so we got there early to guarantee a spot and beat the crazy traffic leading to the park. To kill time until the activities started we spent time at the zoo.
You can see my outfit was unchanged for the first two activities of the day!
My Dad joined us for the Zoo and December Nights

3rd Activity: DECEMBER NIGHTS at BALBOA PARK
It was nice starting this activity while there was still some daylight and the crazy crowd was not full force yet.

Went to the section that had International cuisines. And sure enough found 'House of Turkey'. My son literally devoured 2 gyro (Doner) sandwiches. It was cool ordering the food speaking Turkish.

Ran into this wedding party which we felt were out of their minds for trying to do photos in this crowd. Loved the colors. So perfect for a December wedding. And the cutest thing was all the groomsmen had black sneakers on while the groom had a red pair!

What a day!
