The Chill Factor

Today's faux fur vest outfit was inspired by this 2 year old Piperlime ad:

It is really really hard to look slim in a faux fur vest. And since this ruffle and tulle hem top is a tank top I had to also wear a long sleeve top which added a bit of a bulk but I think it was OK...

Vest - Kenza
Linen top - Charlotte Russe
Top - Target
Jeans, necklace - Forever 21
Boots - Madden Girl

TODAY:
Didn't have it in me today to trek to the annual balloon parade on the San Diego Bay that we go every year. So we stayed home for a while then took the kids to the mall to exchange some of the clothes I got my husband for the correct sizes and met my mom there. That seemed to have filled our day.
We are getting ready now for a big adventure that will start tomorrow afternoon!

Going to Big Bear to stay at our friend's 3 bedroom cabin. It will be 4 families, so 8 adults and 8 kids in a 3 bedroom 1 bath house for 2 nights! Should be interesting. We are somewhat treating it like camping packing beds and linens and towels etc... The kids are super excited to see snow and so are we.
My goals for tomorrow is finish packing up the whole family, run errands such as bank and post office, put away all the Christmas decorations and IF THERE IS TIME head to Target to see if Can find a last minute snow boots. As my husband pointed out among my 90+ pairs of shoe collection not a single pair of snow boots if you can believe it! I have ski boots and uggs but nothing to actually play in the snow. We'll see... Not packing any blog worthy outfits but will take some photos to share when we get back...

I will also schedule my last 'who is wearing Kika?' post while I am gone...

Oh, a quick share of the kids with their new electronics....

Kick, Hit, Yell!

My outfit Tuesday.... I was going to wear the leather pants with this combo but then realized I didn't want those pants in a sand playground so went with the skinny cargo's instead...

The inspiration was this:

This reminded me of my chunky sweater and wearing a delicate tulle/ruffle top under it:

I love this necklace. It is hand crochet flowers attached to a silk ribbon. Found this at a street fair in Turkey. I so should have bought more of her pieces cause they were all so gorgeous. This summer I plan to shop big for this type of stuff so I can sell it with the beautiful Kika Paprika's fall/winter line clothes.
I also love how this tank peeks out of the cardigan. I bought this top primarily for this hemline.
And the earpods.... I was trying to do a work call at the same time and kept pulling them out of my ear just before the photo snapped. I lost my bluetooth ok so it sucks!

Cardigan and boots - Forever 21
Top - Charlotte Russe
Pants - Target
Necklace - handmade from a Turkish Bazaar

TUESDAY:
We had our outdoor class today but it was a field trip to a Karate Academy for a free class. The kids had a blast. They had a great promotion so I signed them both up for 5 classes plus a uniform for $25 a kid.
Not sure if we'll continue but it will be a different activity for a while.
After class we fit in a quick grocery shopping since there was a store there in front of the same parking lot. Then drove to the playground couple blocks away and had the kids play. My daughter took a nice nap that afternoon.
My friend came over with her two boys for a playdate and dinner in the afternoon/night.

Here are some fun Karate Class Photos:

I love this trying to concentrate photo! My son is in the red sweats.

Life with My Friends

Last nights crazy combination was inspired by no other than the lovely Sarah Jessica Parker. Both herself and her character in the show has been a great fashion idol to me...
This was out there to create for me. I put so many layers on that I probably added 2 dress sizes to my body but really wanted to try it out.
So this is layering two quite big and full skirts on top of each other. Then 2 sleveeless tops, plus a scarf plus a fur coat!

I wasn't crazy about the bulky way the tops looked but that is more due to my not so thin waist...

I liked how the skirts looked together... The print was perfect to go with the blue top and the red heels!

The heels were perfect. Although I had no stockings on I wasn't cold due to many layers on top...

The knuckle clutch got a lot of attention and comments through the night...

Fur Coat - Vintage from my mom's 2nd hand clothing store back in Turkey
Blue top - Ann taylor
Cream ruffle front top - Forever 21
Scarf - from turkey
Print Skirt - Target
Tulle Skirt - Romwe
Heels - Stuart Weitzman
Clutch - NYC Fashion (from TJ Maxx)

LAST NIGHT:
We tried out a new restaurant that had great reviews way out east and south as part of restaurant week. They don't take reservations so we had to wait 45 minutes for a table. We killed time by doing a wine tasting next door. The food was quite good and we were soooo hungry...

Cindy Lou Who, how do you do?

Today's outfit to see the play 'Grinch Who Stole Christmas' with my son!

First I wore this outfit with my cutest pointy toe sling back hot pink shoes and layers and layers of pearls. It looked great but way too dressy. So I decided to make it edgy for the day by adding the black belt, black booties and chunky chain necklaces and the silver foil lizard skin tote. I love the outcome!

Top, Necklace, Blouse - Forever 21
Tulle Skirt - Romwe
Booties - Michael Antonio from Zappos
Purse - 6951

YESTERDAY:
After arriving from north of LA we had the kids continue their nap as I unpacked, did laundry and showered. As soon as they woke up we went to buy their xmas tree. This is one of our family traditions. We have our beatiful fake tree in the living room every year. But for the kids they select a small fresh tree and decorate it with their own non breakable ornaments in any way they want. I resist all urges to even out the ornament spacing and the lights etc... My son cherishes each and every ornament and how it is placed. He is so me that it is scary. My daughter this year was also old enough this year to hang her own ornaments and she loved it.
My son was so cute asking if their tree and ornaments would still be there in the morning!

TODAY:
Our house and garage currently is a complete mess. Usually I spend the whole 3 day weekend following Thanksgiving putting up xmas ornaments and lights. However this year since we didn't get home until Saturday afternoon plus had to unpack we are totally behind. I had my husband take down all the xmas boxes but they are sitting all around the living room. I like to take my time and slowly decorate so it is going to be a whole week probably.
This morning my friend and I took just our sons to the play. It was our 2nd time their 1st time. We got there in time to have a little snack and visit the gift shop. The boys absolutely loved the show. They really do an amazing job with staging, costumes, singing and acting. Highly Recommend it if you are ever in San Diego this time of the year. Afterwards we took them to a nice lunch at the El Parado restaurant.
Instead of ording the typical kids meal, I ordered my son a plate of steamed mussels and to my friend's and the waitress's amazement he ate the whole thing loving it. That is my boy for you.
After we got home we went to costco for some more xmas light shopping then picked up my daughter from my mom's and got home. My bf is over tonight and we are trying 'newspaper nails' I read from the 'Fashion Fabrice' blog. I will post those photos and outcome tomorrow.
