Tribal Ruffles

Can you believe that I actually forgot to do a post last night!? I had the photos all downloaded and everything but just forgot. This was yesterday's outfit to the zoo. The inspiration came from the ruche website lookbook:
I liked this outfit so much that wanted to order the cardigan and the top. Then I found a very similar top from Forever 21 (the one I have on) of course at a much lower price and got that. The cardigan though I ordered. It is so soft and flowy...

Poses at the Orangutan exhibit at the zoo. We like coming here cause the ground is that soft poured recycled tires and there are places for kids to climb and jump from. Good for snack breaks and diaper change breaks. And I guess photo shoots too.

Wearing the necklace and the bracelet the kids got me for my b-day. My son immediately recognized and said 'I got you this'! I wore the butterfly side up.

YESTERDAY:
Had a playdate at the zoo yesterday morning. Kids are so used to the animals now so they only watch for like 2 minutes and the rest of the time they like to run around together and just play imaginary games. Our zoo is huge so we only cover a fraction of the area in each visit but even that is a lot of walking up and down hill.
My back is all messed up so I couldn't go to my weight lifting class at the gym. Stayed at home in the afternoon with the kids.
My son was styling in his outfit yesterday!

The entire gorilla clan was out!

Wore a lace cami bra under this...

These tiny retro sunglasses were a super old purchase from LA. I love them. Waiting for them to be back in style...

TODAY:
Had our usual rotating hosting Monday Playdate at my friend's house. We were happy it was sunny at her house and the kids enjoyed a nice swim. Before though my friend took our her kids' motorized cars out and they showed what good drivers they were!
My friend's son with my daughter!

All the kids are watching his cool moves!

In the afternoon my mom and step dad came over to hang out. Mom and I tried on my new clothes and had fun.

Here are some of the other gifts I didn't post photos of yesterday:
These are all from Romwe.com. Mom and I came up with 5-6 different outfits using that blue sheer tunic dress already. It is such a unique cut and you can wear it either way to get a different look. I LOVE IT.
These electric blue leggings are super cool layering items. They were tight though even on my skinny legs!

Love this green clutch and the polka dot cream tights. All from Romwe.com

This cute skirt was from my Brother and SIL from Ann Taylor loft but the size was too small. Will see if they have the bigger size or exchange for something different. I love the loft so won't be hard!.

This Nike hoodie is going to be great to motivate me to keep working out. I need to collect couple more new workout items to create a more fashiona forward gym outfit!

This tank which came with a great gift card to my favorite store: Anthropologie. Can't wait to go spend it plus my b-day $10 coupon too! From my in-laws!

This adorable necklace is from my good friend. I love its colors and style. I have been wanting a cascading tear drop necklace like this. Going to have fun styling it.

These are the gifts hubby bought for kids to give. Both Fossil. The necklace can be worn both ways. See the butterfly in the back in the photo below...
The headband was another item from Mom.

Back to the outfit....
The inspiration came from a lookbook on Francesca's Page I was browsing one day:
This photo just gave me the idea I could wear my black and grey striped cardi over a white dress...
And late afternoon today after the pool it was chilly enough to wear this cardigan so it was perfect...
Of course these platforms did not stay on for long. I switched to flats so I can move easily in the house...

TODAY:
Had a big family party at our house to celebrate my b-day. Most got there around 2 pm so we can swim in the heated pool. Afterwards my hubby bbq'd all sorts of goodies and everyone brought delicious side dishes for a nice family dinner. Followed by cake of course!

My dad loves to tell everyone I am 29. Which you know I am so far from it...
He did get the all fresh fruit cake I wanted though! It was delicious...

The whole family (that lives in San Diego) came to celebrate!

Kids helped blew out the candles...
With kids Dad and Hubby!

Gathered in the living room to have some cake and open gifts...

My sister and husband ordered all the stuff I had placed on my 'wish list' from the romwe website!

My mom got me this super cool 6126 purse! She had bought a slightly different model for herself and I had loved it. Of course she had already bought me the Michael Kors purse a few months ago as an advance gift! So this was double...

Plus these cool sunglasses to go with the purse!

This blush colored schiffon skirt is one of those romwe items. Can't wait to style it!

My cousin (he is really my cousin's cousin but easier to explain this way) and his girlfriend bought me the perfect card!

The kids both gave me the cutest presents (my husband is so sweet) a bracelet and a necklace (forgot to photo)... As soon as I opened the necklace from my daughter she put it on herself of course!

Such a cute card from my cute nephew...

Even though he had bought some of the romwe items my husband surprised me with a beautiful necklace...

Then he kept taking one box after another from his pockets until I revealed this whole set!

And my step dad gave us this amazing painting of my son when he was around 2 yrs old!

He lays in front of his painting!
And now some more fun photos....

With my sister and mom:
