Vintage layers

I love the outfit even though it is a bit 'out' there. I got the inspiration from this:

I was drawn to the combination of pink and red and of course fur.

This pink silk ruffle front blouse used to belong to my Grandmother. My mom had it and landed it to me. I just love wearing something of her. The fur cape was a left over from my mom old vintage store again on loan from her. I purposefully did not button it up so the ruffles of the blouse can show thru...

Yes, I know the green socks in pointy toe brown shoes is the part that makes it 'out' there but I love it. I wish the socks were not too big and fit right but I kept pulling and tucking. This green cocktail ring was perfect to bring out the green in the socks. Just something about adding green to this combo worked.

Amazing how better photos come out when you have someone to take them. My mom took these and I actually had her stand in 3 different locations before picking the best spot for the light.

I actually own red pants but they are boot cut and for this look I needed to cuff the pants to show the ankle socks so went with these burgandy cords instead. I think it still works...

Mom did warn me my face was in the shadows but I think it looks a bit artistic, no?

Today's Activities: Man, you go out of town for day and the stuff just piles up. It took me all day to unpack all the bags from our day trip to disney, laundry, bills, emails, photos etc... Thank goodness my mom came over to help with the kids so I could get more done. While the kids napped she even ran a few of my errands outside the house while I met my friend to finish up the party favors for our daughters' b-day party tomorrow.
For dinner I met the family and the kids at soup plantation for dinner. My step dad commented I might be the only one who ever wore mink in soup plantation history! I was tempted to change shoes and a sweater instead of the cape but I loved the outfit too much to change.

Disney Princess

This was my disney outfit! My husband's comment 'looks like you woke up this morning and decided you were 30 years younger!'. I didn't care. Disney is probably one place you can get way dressed in tulle and sneakers at any age and not get a second look and I really didn't!.
This purple top is disney's 'jack' top which I had bought my last previous visit. The skirt is not really a skirt but a mini strapless dress.

When it got cold I added my super cool 'mickey' hoodie. It has roses and and the writing 'mickey' all over the back and the sides. Too bad I didn't take a closer photo.... And yes my daughter's outfit was pretty similar!

The hat is also disney bought my first visit after my son's birth. It has a tiara design on it. You know cause I am a 'princess' at heart!

Thursday's Activities: Had an amazing day at CA Adventure Park in Disneyland celebrating my daughter's 2nd birthday. We left on time and got there 10 minutes after the park opened. It is a great perk to be living in San Diego that we can make a day trip to disneyland as it is only 1.5 hour drive away. It was firs time for all of us in CA Adventure Park, we took all the tips my friends' had given. Did every possible ride kids can do and watched every show! It was pretty dead and there were hardly any lines for any of the rides. Both kids even napped in the (double) stroller for 1.5 hours while we brosed shops and sipped coffee at a nice cafe. Late afternoon we got out of the park temporarily and my in-laws in downtown disney for dinner. They live north of LA so they drove the same distance to meet us. It is also my mother-in-law's b-day so it was a joint celebration. Had dinner at rainforest cafe which kept the kids interested for a little while. Afterwards we went back in the park to watch the evening 'world of color' show. We had to hold the kids over our shoulders and that was a painful act for 45 minutes but they loved it. Changed them into PJs so they could sleep in the car and just be transferred to bed when we got home by 11 PM. Great day!

Here is the Birthday Girl with her special 'pin':

Meeting Mickey. My daughter gave him the cutest kiss on the nose afterwards!

My son's 'flare's' he gets to get a pin or two each visit...He has every lion king one.

Meeting 'Woody'

Mommy and Daughter:

Riding 'king triton's sea animals'

2 zonked out on the ride home at the end of the day!

Butterfly Tucker

I forgot to mention yesterday but I am very excited about making VIP in Chictopia!

This is a simple casual outfit but the touch of silk take it up a notch.
This inspiration photo was from the October 2010 issue of In Style Magazine:

Got the idea of layering the striped t-neck under a silky floral top from this photo. Tucker butterfly silk blouse was perfect for this layering.

Here is a close-up. This blouse is so pretty...

This cuff watch was a gift from my mom. It came in the cutest box too. I love it. The charm bracelet was a sale find at Victoria's Secret. I bought one for my mom and one for myself. This was a few years back.

Carried the tripod upstairs to take these photos on my bedroom balcony. The kids were playing in the (empty) bathtub so didn't want to leave them alone.

I was too lazy to go downstairs to grab my usual sunglasses so reached for these which were among 5 other pair of sunglasses I have in my dresser drawer. It is an off-white color that looks great in summer.

Today's Activities: Preschool this morning. Love the fact that art project was mud pies which the kids made dinasour bones found in dirt. Was even more pleased that we got to take them home. Not sure what we are supposed to do with them. :) After naps we went to the indoor play area and met some friends. Came home for dinner and watched part of toy story 2 (another netflix).

Going to CA Adventure Park tomorrow to celebrate my daughter's birthday. My husband is taking the day off from work. We'll be throwing her a party jointly with another friend whose daughter is turning 2 (they are a day apart) on Saturday but thought it would be special to do a family event on her actual day.

It is her day tomorrow, but it is also my day.
It is the day I was afraid for my life, it is the day I stood to loose everything and it is the day I gained it all.
I was diagnosed with placenta accreta where your placenta (the sack that houses the baby) attaches itself to the uterus so while giving birth women bleed to death in a record time. As soon as I was diagnosed at 19 weeks I was transferred to a high risk dr and a different hospital where they have the equipment to perform such surgery. I knew it was serious when we had separate appointments to meet my surgeons and a person dedicated by the hospital just to answer my questions and concerns. You know you are in trouble where in a country where it is so hard to talk to a dr on the phone my surgeons were giving me their direct cell numbers. Which did come in handy when I started bleeding (2 years ago tonight) even before my 34 week scheduled surgery date. By the time we arrived there was a team waiting and they had already read up my entire file and the surgeons were already called and on their way. This was a teaching hospital. So if you watch grey's anatomy at all imagine bunch of surgical interns and residents who were super excited to be on my case as a case like mine only came once every 2 months or so if that. My family and I were not quite sharing their enthusaism. It was very emotional when it became evident they couldn't stop the bleeding and I was to be taken into surgery and they told my family to say their good-bye's. I will never forget the fear I felt for my own life for the sake of the ones I was leaving behind. The thought of not seeing my kids grow-up or the fact that I might never be able to even meet my little girl was unbearable. But it all passed and I survived. My surgery performed by an oncologist was a total success. Yes, I no longer can have children but I couldn't be happier with the son and daughter I was blessed with.
So, it is my daughter's day but it is also my day...... and I am going to wear a pink tulle skirt! :)

Cozy in a Snood

I save these super casual and comfy outfits for our road trips up north for my dad's dr appts. Here is where I got my inspiration:

I can't be certain but I think the lovely lady above is pregnant in this photo. Loved its use of sweats and snood and converses. And since I own them all it was a no brainer.

I chose the girl tee again as its nicely with these colors. It would have been better if I had a black graphic tee but the one I have was too cutesy. The slip on converses work great and have the look of the ones with ties on which I love.  Don't you love these puma atheltic socks?

I was actually cold and could have used another layer today. Glad I had the snood to keep me warm.

Just proves you can also wear your hair curly with Brazilian Blowout. I have naturally curly hair so this is what it looks like when I don't do anything to it. Of course before the blowout this looked like a frizz bomb. I am just loving this blowout big time.

Grey Cotton Blazer, Sweat leggings - Forever 21
Snood - Thread Show
Socks - Puma
Sneakers - Converses
Sunglasses - Chanel

Today's Activities: Another 4:40 AM wake-up call and drive up to Laguna for my dad's dr appt. We had lunch at Dana Point for a change. Dad took these photos by the harbor after lunch...

He also thought this was nice next to the gardenia (I think):

After we got home I was ecstatic to see the Forever 21 box sitting in the porch. So of course instaed of taking a much needed nap before picking up my kids from my mom's I played dress-up instead! Yesterday evening after I dropped off the kids at my mom and step dad's I was early to meet my husband and there was a Marshalls next to the movie theater so of course I couldn't resist. You know what I noticed the most? The absolute quietness. No it was not quiet in the store necessarily but it was for me. That is because I didn't have to talk to anyone, I didn't have to listen to anyone, I didn't have to answer a thousand mostly silly questions or resolve and conflicts over who is ripping whose book or who wants water first. No, it was quiet. I truly enjoyed that first before starting my browsing. I grabbed a halter tank maxi dress that is navy with white stripes. And a very thin striped summer jacket and a really fun plaid and animal print mix purse that was too funky to pass. I also found a great kenneth cole short and 2 t-shirt set and a paul frank tee for my son. I can't beleive at dept store the set retails for $54. That is just crazy for a kid who is going to grow out of it after one season! I got it for $20. So bought the stuff without trying of course so we can have our dinner and a movie. This afternoon was perfect for trying on those as well as the F21 purchases. Everything looks great except the jeans I ordered are too big. I chickened and ordered one size up but should have stuck to my size. My fave has turned out to be this floppy fedora hat. It looks amazing with everything and brings edge to any outfit. The maxi dress was just incredible. I think I jotted 5 different combinations within 10 minutes. Spring will be fun.
After having dinner at my mom's I came home, my husband is at a work dinner so I was on my own. After a quick bath and unpacking their overnight bags we settled in front of the TV to watch shrek 2 (netflix) and as a treat made them air popcorn in the machine which they love to watch. They liked the party favor boxes I had gottan for my daughter's b-day party and used them as pop corn bowls. It was so nice, especially when very subtly my daughter leaned her had on my shoulder. Priceless...

Argyle Vest

So when I put this outfit on and looked in the mirror I really really loved this outfit. But once again looking at the downloaded photos and I am not sure. The vest's green color might be screaming a bit too much...
My inspiration came from the following Lucky post (not sure of the month as I didn't note it):

When I saw this I thought about the argyle vest in my closet that I bought on a business trip in San Fran. There was a big Banana Republic store across from our hotel and the girl that works for me loves the store so we went in after our meeting before dinner. I as pregnant at the time so bought this a bit larger from the sale rack. Hadn't really worn it that much at all.

This purple skirt was in a bag of clothes my mom was giving away. I love it is deep hue and the fact that it is stretchy which actually makes wearing a pencil skirt with kids possible. I tried on my regular leather jacket but like the edge the motorcycle one adds to the outfit. Didn't own any 'tag' necklaces so wore these instead. I love the huge onyx one as I have told you before it is a gift from my uncle's mother which I had loved very much and it is inscribed in the back so I always remember her when I wear it.

The socks are actually tigh high but I folded them to be knee high and they work. Took off the fur trim on the boots for the outfit.

I always get questions if the photos are taken in my house and yes, they are. One day I will do a post on the house as besides being passionate about fashion, I am also very into renovating/decorating.

Today's Activities: Preschool this morning. My daughter is now old enough where she gets her own story bag. Story bags are these clear backpacks where there is a book and a related toy inside. Kids get to pick them out and keep them for a week than return and get another one every monday. Total hassle for me to make sure we do not loose this toy but they love it. My daughter was so cute today carrying her packpack like her brother when we walked from the car to the class room. It was a long nap period. My daughter woke up pretty much 10 minutes after my son decided to take a nap after all. The kids will be spending the night at my parents tonight as I have my dad's dr appt tomorrow in Laguna beach. So my husband and I are going to have an early dinner and see a somewhat early movie since I have to go to bed early. So, I am posting this early. :)
