Mad as a Hatter

Today was the Halloween Carnival at my daughter's Preschool. She wore her 1 of 3 costumes which was the 'Diamond Fairy'. AND I wore my new costume (which I will support for many Halloween's to come): Mad Hatter!
This was a pretty great deal as all of these pieces came in one set. The headband, the bowtie, dress, jacket, stockings and it also had blue lace gloves that I forgot to wear!

I wore lace boyshorts underneath the skirt but it was till very very short. THe cool thing is the class is a very safe place as it is indoors and only consist of mommies and kids. :)

My Pretty Diamond Fairy
We got the idea for this costume form the Chasing Fireflies catalog. And a great way to wear her gorgeous flower girl dress from my sister's wedding one more time. The wings are form the dollar store. The necklace is mine and the tiara is also mine from my 'black swan' costume couple years ago. Her own pewter ballet flats.
She was ecstatic that we got to put make-up and face paint on her. And although I forgot to take a photo she had metallic silver nail polish on applied by my sister last night.

I LOVE THE POSE BELOW:

TODAY AT PRESCHOOL:
The Halloween Carnival in school consists of mom's coming up with a fun booth where the kids will do an activity or art and then get a treat or toy in return…

Our booth was called 'Make a Web, Get a Drink'.
We had the kids scoop marbles dipped in white paint on a black round paper which was in a pie plate and swirl it around to create 'spider webs'. Then they chose a plastic insect/creature to glue to be stuck in their web…
As a treat they kept their artwork and also got a cup of the spiderlacious drink.

Some kids were scared of the green drink with a floating spider in it. Some were so hooked on it. This little one drank 5+ cups!
(The punch is made of Pineapple Juice, sprite, touch of cranberry and lime jello for the color)

I loved this tee my friend who is expecting wore:

The Pirates….

The Witches….

The Superhero's….

And the whole group of mommies and our Teacher (in red riding hood costume):

In the Trenches - Bloggers Do It Better

I wanted to link up to Bloggers Do It Better coat event so had to pick an outfit that involved a coat today. But it also had to be appropriate for my day which was going to involve a busy morning and then sitting in a car for 5+ hours. That part was the toughest. But as I was going through my inspirations I found this from J Crew's September Catalog:
I am always drawn to funky color combo's.  And I also loved how odd this was incorporating sweat pant like pants, sneakers and a coat! I swapped the colors of the sneakers and the pants since that is what I owned. The outfit was amazingly comfortable by the way. I loved being in it all day. And I layered the sweater over a same neon colored tee when it was hot I was still in the same color combo. My dad and Aunt appreciated in the car ride! (I am being sarcastic! :))

TODAY:
Started the day with ballet class at the park which the outfit came in very handy because it was freezing that early and I was so glad to have the trench on. Then we rushed to the library for story time and returning our weekly books and getting a new stack.
Then we came home and I emptied my car of kid car seats and vacuumed and put 3 down pillows and a blanket to get it comfy for my dad for a long car ride to and back to LAX airport to take my aunt for her flight back to Turkey.
The traffic was awful going there due to an accident but we got her in plenty of time then headed back with a stop for a quick dinner and to avoid the rush hour traffic on the way back.

TODAY:
Went to preschool class then picked up my son and took him to his swim class. The kids have been begging for McDonald's lately so decided to give in for an early dinner which was kind of too early so we had to do snacks twice before the night was over...
I am so tired today. Determined to go to bed early!

Game Changer

Today's casual combo was from April 2011 issue of In Style Magazine:

It was an interesting combo to wear my harem pants which I don't that often at all. And this shades of grey and taupe is kind of cool.
I tried it with the brown wedges but it was boring. I felt the fashion sneaker wedges were cooloer...

Sweater, Pants - Forever 21
Necklace - Shoedazzle
Sneakers - Steve Madden
Purse - from Harvard

TODAY:
I have a bit more wiggle room Tuesday mornings so it is nice. I actually get to sleep in until 7 AM. Once I get all the lunches packed and send off my hubby and son, I can relax and eat my breakfast sitting down. We then head to outdoor class which was by the beach today but the weather was quite cold and I even wore my silver grey parka over this outfit which looked silly but I was cold.
By noon it warmed up. We went to the indoor play area so I can job search but then got a call from the school to find out my son does not have after school science today as they apparently skipped a week before starting session 2, so I had to rush to pick him up from the office which I felt so bad.
We came home to rest and then homework and their halloween costumes arrived in the mail so they were stoked. I love my 'mad hatter' costume too. My daughter of course has 3 costumes this halloween so she can wear different ones to different events. The one that arrived is the Monster High, Abby Abominable outfit. I had to narrow her selection to a suitable one as some of the monster high costumes are quite racy... This one is cute though with fuzzy leg and arm warmers and white hair with blue and pink extensions.
