Always gonna be an uphill battle

Yesterday's comfortable outfit was from the inspiration below… It is either top shop or zara lookbook:

This top has been so versatile and perfect for pairing with unexpected midi skirts. Last time it was with a hot pink crochet midi, this time it is my very old full floral knee length skirt.
Adding the casual slide on sandals underneath makes it very laid back…and oh so practical for me...

Top - Topshop
Skirt - TJ Maxx (super old)
Sandals - Zara
Clutch - Forever 21
Sunglasses - Wildfox

THURSDAY:
It was our free day which I decided to dedicate to running errands. I also had a toothache and wanted to get it checked out which required an appointment. The problem with running errands is it is hard to estimate how much time each task will require. So I thought I would have plenty of time to hit grocery store and back to the house to unpack then to lunch and stop at couple stores to shop for gitfts for Turkey when I booked my dentist but I was wrong. With the kids everything takes longer. I had to push back the appointment which then pushed back my son's haircut even further. So we had free time which I thought I could circle back to a store I never had time to go before lunch but after a stop at Starbucks and Jamba Juice it seems we were out of time again and I was so tired of being stressed and stuck and in traffic.
At the end we finally made it to the haircut and got it done and came home for a very low key dinner.
I just wished the day wasn't so stressful.

Wave Riders

I cut up bunch of inspiration from J Crew's summer (July) 2014 catalog. As they are just simple casual combo's that suit my life style… Here is one:

Just pairing floral shorts with a striped top and touch of sequins and metallics is unexpected…

Not sure what was going on with my camera, the colors are weird in some of the shots….

These shorts are new. I ordered them to wear with swim suits. They are super short but somehow stay put and the back has more coverage than the front so your butt cheeks do not hang out despite the short front look. Very light too...

Top - Ann Taylor LOFT
Shorts - Nordstrom's
Sandals - J Crew
Sunglasses - Ray Ban
Backpack - Shoedazzle

WEDNESDAY:
So this was really an outfit I wore on Tuesday as we went to the beach on Wednesday and I just had swim suit and cover up on.
But the kids had a blast. We went to the beach by the gorgeous Torrey Pines Reserve/state park in San Diego. Pristine beaches at the skirt of impressive cliffs that contain lush trails. The caveat is you have to pay $12 to park. BUT, it was worth every penny as you get the park and literally just cross the street to the beach. That convenience was golden. Other beaches we circle and circle till we are dizzy to find parking and walk 10+ blocks with all the beach gear and the kids in the heat and then it all has to be repeated as we head back. Here it was a breeze.
And the beach was perfect. No seaweed, no rocks. The waves looked big but had little pull power which made it safe for kids. The water was super warm and the beach went shallow for quite a while again allowing kids to catch the wave break safely.
And those kids were hooked. First it was our 5 year old girls that caught the 'must catch the next wave' bug. They would sequel in delight as they rode the wave all the way to the shore and immediately hop off and swim back to catch the next one. They did this non stop for an hour straight before realizing they were famished and took a break. The boys were first just braving the big waves themselves. When the girls took their break they took the boards and realized how cool it was to boogie board. And funny how they all needed the rash guards for the actual reason to protect their stomachs from getting a rash.
Even with that though they all had red spots and bruises to show for their hard work all day.
My friend and I couldn't resist the unusually warm ocean either and swam couple times. It is so nice that our kids are now self sufficient in water and we can swim beside them and not have to hold their hands with every wave. It is so refreshing…

Look at them catching the waves… They created quite the scene to watch as they sped to the shore on the wave...

Pastoral

This combo I wore on Monday was inspired by this blogger post whose name was Diya I think but I can't remember the blog's name and I know she stopped blogging a year ago….

I liked the idea of combining lace pieces and kimono top creating a very pastel and floral outfit...

Kimono Top - Shop Ruche
Lace top and shorts - Forever 21
Necklace - Etsy
Sandals - J Crew

MONDAY:
We had our usual playdate but it was a short one. We left early to run errands of stopping at Target and library and swim meet to pick up my son's meet ribbon etc…
Then we came home and they swam in our pool and relaxed…

On Tuesday, we went to the Jr. Theater to see the 'Snoopy The Musical' with our outdoor class…

Def Leopard and KISS

What I wore to my friend's Birthday and to a KISS concert on Sunday!

My mom ordered these leggings and the top for herself but then she said the leggings stripes didn't look right. When she gave them to me I wasn't sure where I was going to wear them ever. The leggings felt too crazy and the top felt too conservative which is when Mom suggested to wear them together to balance. Still I wasn't sure what event would require such outfit.
When my best friend sent the evite for her b-day party that involved going to a Def Leopard and KISS concert I though it would be PERFECT!

Layered 3 necklaces on top of each other to get this effect:

My Lita's always make a statement!

Top - Venus
Leggings - some european website
Booties - Jeffrey Campbell
Necklaces - Forever 21
Purse - Thread Show
Cuffs - another odd website
Sunglasses  - Wild Fox

SUNDAY:
Took it easy in the morning as the kids were at my parents house. Slept until 10 AM if you could believe it. And after I woke up decided to go to an kid UN friendly restaurant for brunch with my hubby. Picked a spot right on the water at a local resort. Afterwards we took a walk on the beach then hit home depot to pick paint and carpet samples!
At home my parents came with the kids to use the pool while I finished up laundry and unpacking and then started to get ready in this crazy outfit…

Went to my best friend's house for the pre party! They had a taco lady serving dinner and drinks. And then the gigantic Limo Bus pulled over. Apparently they were out of the 20 person bus so they brought a 50 person bus!
We piled in with our drinks and took turns on the pole and enjoyed the 30 minute ride south to the concert arena.
The crowd was interesting for sure and we had cheap lawn tickets which were fine except when it got dark and you left to get food or drink or to the bathroom it was almost impossible to find your friends/spot again in pitch black.
My leggings apparently were screaming so they would find me.
The birthday couple peeked too early and we actually left shortly after KISS was on stage but that was OK with me as I was so tired.
Fun and interesting night though….
