Doing something a bit different today and starting the post featuring
a spring trend that is coming up:
Beaded Necklaces...
I cut out some inspiration photos from In Style's Dec/Jan 2012 Issue:
Aren't these gorgeous? I love this whole excessive layering aspect!
Reminds me of the Masaii tribe we visited in Kenya who are famous with their beaded neck wear....
If you don't think you can create this layered look check out the already layered gorgeous necklaces at the etsy store (prices range from $150 to $200):
After seeing the issue I went upstairs to my jewelry cabinet and got to work layering what I already own...
85% of these are of course from Turkey. Beaded necklaces are somewhat of a tradition there and the bazaars, flea markets and street vendors sell the most beautiful pieces at amazing prices!
10% are purchases from places like Thread shows or tribal pieces collected from exotic trips like Kenya, Brazil, Costa Rica etc...and 5% are from Forever 21...
This one is my favorite...
Now that I look at the Noble House designs I might make more combinations mixing metal with beaded ones as well... The possibilities are endless...
If you are wondering what the cabinet looks like that stores these and many many more....
And some even hanging outside the cabinet cause there is no space left.... Amazingly I know everything I have and where exactly it is hanging in this cabinet! It is a gift I guess...

And now finally the OOTD:
The inspiration was from August 2011 issue of In Style Magazine:
I don't have a plain purple dress so I wore a top and a skirt (and tights) that amazingly match in exactly the same purple hue!
I could have done cognac brown boots but just wanted to go with black for some reason. May be cause I had just worn the cognac pair yesterday and wearing the same pair of shoes two days in a row is just weird to me now!
Military Jacket, Lace Cami, tights, necklace - Forever 21
Skirt - Mango
Boots - can't remember...
Purse - Chloe
Just some random photos of the kids I snapped when taking my own photos.
My son was wearing his new skateboard t-shirt not that you can see from this dark photo and I braided my daughter's hair into two buns (star trek style)...
What a fantastic post. I love you inspiration cut outs. I never noticed the beaded necklaces coming back, but you captured it perfectly, and I love your layering that you did with the pieces you already own. I cannot believe your jewelry collection!! It's outstanding.
ReplyDeleteThat outfit you are wearing definitely is one of my favorites ever! You're right--those hues are identical. Love the military jacket with the feminine dress. Very something I would wear :D
