The hardest job you will ever love

Today's casual combo was chosen to handle my super crazy day. I was inspired by this collage put together by one of the bloggers (I didn't note who). May be the Carrie Fabulous blog:

Liked this purple, grey combo and liked that it had scarf a jacket and flats and JEANS. Perfect for an all day long busy day....

My brother and SIL gave me this bag couple weeks ago. I love how roomy it is and the color is just perfect. :)

Isn't this a cute beanie? I loved the rhinestone detailing. My dad noticed all these details when I met him for his Dr. appt today.

Jacket - Nike
Jeans - Old Navy
Scarf - Kika Paprika
Sneakers - hi top converses
Purse - Harvard
Earrings - Kate Young for Target
Hat and tee - Forever 21

TODAY:
Oh my goodness today was crazy. Left the house at 8:30 AM. Went to my daughter's ballet class. Then in rocket speed purchased a missing piece of our gift to my niece and got lucky and there was a UPS store next to there so got to ship it all in one very fast errand run. Then rushed to my Dad's Dr. appt. My aunt watched the little princess while I went in with my dad. Unfortunately there was a lot of wait and it took quite long so we only had a half hour to eat lunch together then it was rushing back to my son's school to pick him up with a quick stop at home to pick up soccer gear and more food for my constantly hungry kids. Stopped at the library for a little while so we can return and check out our weekly books. Then walked to my son's tennis class. During his class got my daughter dressed for soccer and rushed from there to her soccer practice where my sis and brother in law joined us.
After soccer it was the usual team dinner at Rubio's then home for a much much needed shower for the kids and getting them to bed.
I am quite exhausted but wrapped up Homeland season 2 episodes right now.

Baby It Is Cold Outside

I had been saving this outfit combination for an event where we would be outside and the coat would be worn the entire time.

I got the inspiration of adding a silky red scarf from this tiny inset photo of SJP in a magazine:

I truly love this coat. I bought it 8-9 years ago from Bebe full price cause I was in love with it. At the time I traveled frequently to New York (and also Boston and Chicago) for my job so it wasn't that silly of a purchase. It is the type of coat you put on and feel like a million bucks. And now this year this is totally in style.

I wish the red silk scarf I had was a full size one so it would be bigger like SJP's but mine was a long narrow kind. Still works though I think...

These platforms looked killer. But of course I couldn't wear them in reality for what we were doing. I wish I could though. Cause Uggs sure did not give this effect!

Underneath the coat I just wore a simple black t-neck to keep things simple!

The kids were picking up leaves and throwing them over me like confetti while I was taking these photos!

Coat - Bebe
T-neck - Gap
Silk Scarf - Echo
Jeans - Closet
Platforms - Newport News
Purse - 6951

TODAY:
We stayed home this morning since my son was not feeling great and I had ton of stuff to do from laundry to cooking to gift wrapping and just taking it easy.
After naps we had a very early dinner and met our friends at Krispy Kreme's. 6 families to be exact with 12 kids! We drove to the local neighborhood where all the houses go all out with holiday lights. Kids on a high from the donut sugar rush had a blast running with their friends.
Except my son started feeling sick after 30 minutes and rode in my friend's stroller for the rest of the night.

They were fascinated with these tiny snowmen that sang on the ground of someone's yard!

My little sick baby!

Mine are in the Paul Frank hats!

Here is our group of kids!

Whistle me a tune

Going cozy and casual today. Now that I plan my outfits for the whole week it has been so nice. From trial and error I now try to match  not only the weather forecast but also the activities we are going to be doing. Knowing today would be lounging around and then going to the dentist I wanted something that was comfy that would not cause me to want to change into sweats after a few hours. And this was perfect.

The inspiration came from
October 2011 issue of People Style Watch
(one of my favorite magazines for inspirations).
I liked the first photo where the concept of pairing skinny jeans or leggings with thigh high boots and a cozy pancho!
This pancho is another one of those super old items that I just knew would come back in style and did not give it away but kept it in the kids' closets. Since last winter I have been able to wear it a few times.

This is the beret I bought when the previous one turned out to be funkier than I envisioned. Love this oatmeal color. At 2 for $10 from F21 it was tempting to get one in every color!

Pancho - Max Studio (TJ Maxx I am sure)
Striped t-neck worn under - Forever 21
Denim leggings - Elle (Kohl's)
Flat OTK suede boots - Steve Madden
Beret - Forever 21
Sunglasses - Channel

TODAY:
I woke up early actually for our off day since my in-laws were here and used that time to prep the crock pot dinner put away laundry and get everyone including myself ready. When they left for breakfast we left shortly after for the indoor play area. I finally finished my calendar projects and ordered them on snapfish. After a very argumentative call with Pottery Barn over my recent loveseat order for my daughter's room we made it home in time for naps. I went to the dentist for a filling appointment while my parents babysat.
Late afternoon my friend came over with her boys and we cooked a joint effort dinner.
Afterwards we dressed her for her husband's 20s theme Christmas party tomorrow night.
We went for the suit with a fur collar and a hat look. My red hat was perfect for a holiday party. Added satin animal print gloves and pearl accessories and lace up booties. I even had 3 different kinds of purses to choose from. Amazing what can come out of my closet.
