Live your life, and stay young on the floor

 This was my outfit Friday....
The inspiration from this photo I saved in my digital inspiration folder:
I decided to go with booties instead of wedges even though I own such wedges cause I wanted something I can wear all day and I really wanted to wear socks. :)

My mom bought me these crazy earrings for my birthday from shopbop. With my short hair they stand out and I thought added a cool pop color to this outfit instead of going with a necklace...

Blouse - J Crew
Pants - Forever 21
Booties - Shoedazzle
Earrings - shopbop
Belt - limited

FRIDAY:
Our preschool class was off today so we went to a coffee shop with a play area to meet a friend I haven't seen in a while. My daughter loved being somewhere new so it was perfect.
We fit in a quick grocery shopping before picking up my son and coming home. Early evening we went to his school's back to school family picnic as a family. Such a difference from last year's shy boy who wouldn't even go so say 'hi' to a friend without us. This year the minute we arrived he was gone, hooking up with friends and playing. My daughter was just the same running off even though she knows no one, making friends within 5 minutes and joining in. Lots of sweets and head to two glow in the dark gadget purchases. The kids danced to the DJ music until 8 PM. The kids look so grown up when they are dancing in a club atmosphere and the parents feel so old.  Such a fun night though.

cha cha cha

Yesterday's outfit taking the kids to an outdoor jumpy play park...

The inspiration was from People Style Watch's May 2013 issue:

Hat - Asos
Vest, tank, skirt - Forever 21
Wedges - Victoria's Secret
Necklace - Cookie Lee
Purse - Chloe
Sunglasses - Karen Walker

WEDNESDAY:
My playgroup had scored group on coupons for this outdoor inflatable park near a local mall so we met there. It was a lot cooler than we imagined. The whole place was fenced and covered with artificial grass carpet so the kids can take off their shoes once and walk around in socks in the whole area. They had lounge chairs in the sun and tables and benches with umbrellas for the adults. It was actually quite relaxing.  That is of course if your kids were old enough to run around on their own. The kids had quite fun and burned a lot of energy.
We went to pick up my son afterwards early afternoon then took them to their swim lesson.
My son is getting so advanced. He was working on his back stroke which he can do the entire length of the pool and back!

After swim class they were quiet tired but we stopped by my Dad's house to say goodbye to my brother, SIL and my little nephew as they head off to Boston for Harvard. The kids played so cute with their cousin. We are going to miss them.

After good-byes we got home and served the dinner I had already cooked. After eating quickly I got ready to go downtown to take free salsa dancing lessons with a few preschool mommy friends!
It was a last minute decision to go out and I kept thinking about flaking but the fact that I have never learned to salsa dance I was intrigued. Of course I was totally late as my son had a lego malfunction and my husband was too tired to trouble shoot a 15 step problem I stayed to fix some of it. It is hard to say no cause I love legos and am so glad he is into them too. It is our thing. :)

So glad I went. All my friends were late so I wasn't really late after all. The DJ who was also the instructor was great and quite funny. They lined up the girls on one side and guys on the other and showed us the moves for each partner than partnered us up. Every move they made us rotate and change partners. Half the time we were partnered with other ladies as there were of course more girls than guys. But we were just thinking what a great place for guys to pick up girls. You just got to know how to dance. There were very mis matched couples on the floor. It was fun to watch.

Roof Top Dancing

This was the outfit I finally settled on for going out last night to my old Nanny's b-day part at a roof top club.

Dressing up was not stress free last night. This is why I have my outfit lists. I hate trying to come up with outfits under pressure. It really is not fun. We came so late from the pool b-day party last night and had so little time. The good thing my mom and step-dad had already arrived to pick us up so I had my mom's help. We laughed a lot because I kept putting on outfits that were so casual and appropriate for day time and my mom kept saying 'I read your blog you wear crazy stuff during the day and this is the time now you are picking casual stuff!' Anyway, she told me to stop trying on t-shirts for once.

Hence I found my ruffle halter top which I wore new year's eve with tuxedo pants. It looked fine over black shorts as well...

Then added my extereme platforms and achieved the 'all legs' look I wanted without the mini skirt...

The last two times we went to a club I wore a mini skirt. I love wearing super mini's with platforms. BUT, I hate dancing in them. I am a decent dancer and like to dance freely. When in a skirt I tend to stay within a mini square space just moving as much as the skirt allows me. Now I have seen girls that dance anyway they want in the skirts but looks really tacky in my opinion. In my clubbing days we used to wear pants. These days you will rarely see a girl covering her legs. So my happy medium is 'shorts'.
Shorts bare the legs but provide coverage to let you do whatever dance move you like! :)

My step dad took these photos before it got super crowded...He was playing with effects of flash vs. no flash...

Since we were so late with me taking forever to get ready. I put on these accessories with minimal thought...

Halter top - Bebe
Shorts - Express
Platforms - Aldo
Purse and leather cuff - Forever 21
CZ large ring - gift from Mom from Turkey

LAST NIGHT:
We got ready in a fenzy as I indicated above upon our late return from the pool party. After putting the kids to bed and unloading wet towels and suits and greeting my Dad who came over to babysit, I discovered my husband was not feeling well and was showing signs of bailing out for the night. My mom and Step-dad had already arrived so I went solo with them.
We got the club early to avoid cover and very long lines and even managed to grab a seat at the only 'free' table by the fire!

The roof top club had georgous views...

With my young and beautiful Mom:
(We are actually very close in height but discovered my platforms were much higher than her wedges!)
I probably should note the b-day girl (and her sister) are Turkish. She was a nanny to my son for only a few months (my company closed the office) but continued to live with us and we became very close. She is dating one of my closest work colleagues. She is also close to my mom hence that is why we are all together!
